The QHY9 camera requires 70mm of back focus when used with the OAG.

An MPCC coma corrector is too short with the required back focus of 55mm.

Solution:

I just received the Varilock adjustment sleeve from opt.

It's a BA-T2-25Y Baader Planetarium

VariLock 29 T2 Extension Tube 20-29mm.

see here:

optcorp.com/products/ba-t2-25y-varilock-29-t2-extension-t...

That now allows me to adjust the

Baader RCC for the correct 91.5mm

distance from the camera sensor to knurled ring or to whatever works best.

Coma Corrector = part number BA2956800 from Teleskop Service.

QUOTE:

"The RCC 1 (David Rowe Coma Correktor) is a new corrector for Newtonian telescopes with notably long working distance. Standard coma correctors only offer 55mm from their T2 threads - just and only enough for a T2 ring and a SLR camera.

The RCC 1 offers, due to its triplet lens design, 91.5mm from its T2 thread or even 94.5mm from the M48 thread. The knurled ring can be taken off and the corrector therefore be countersunk in a 2" focuser."

Messier 3 a globular cluster in the constellation Canes Venatici.

A huge swarm of stars bound together by the forces of gravity. I had originally planned this session spending time on galaxy M81 but alas my limited viewing area meant it had sloped off behind the house, so a quick review of what was up for grabs with Google Skymaps and I decided on M3. I've not shot or processed a globular cluster before so its been interesting to see how the processing slightly differs.

I was also testing the Baader MPCC with this setup and found it actually does help to combat a fair amount of the coma even though it supposed to be used with a Newtonian setup.

Could be much better but I was shooting between and through cloud and generally cursing the recent English weather :) Bit of star elongation from the guider chasing the stars through said cloud etc.
