Broadmoor Manitou & Pike's Peak Cog Railway locomotive 29, along with cars 29A, B, & C, are seen at the station atop Pike's Peak during an afternoon snowstorm. At 14,115 feet, Pike's Peak Summit is the fifth-highest railway in the world, and the highest in North America. The 8.9-mile journey up the mountain sees grades of up to 26%.
The locomotive and trainset is one of three built by Stadler Rail this year for the railway, which underwent a top-to-bottom rebuild over the last three years - literally starting at the top of the mountain and building entirely new track down to the bottom! The three new trainsets compliment the railroad's aging Swiss Locomotive and Machine Works railcars on the line.
Have a wonderful day!

Another from my fantastic day of shooting at Sequoia National Park. How I spent my Memorial Day. I'll probably be digging through all these photos for the next six months. These are just little baby Sequoias. Just the size of average trees. This was before I got up to where the huge ones were.
as if the strenuous climb up the snowy peak wasn't enough,
this view took away my breath,
all over again
we could've stayed up there all day,
soaking in this magnificence
it's a strange feeling -
of being small and in awe of the majesty of the mountain, yet
of being powerful and free - you can do anything!
this was my first summit in a while,
and my first backpacking trip ever - and certainly not my last

Had the pleasure of working with Whole Heart Studios on the wedding of Jeremy and Emily. What a beautiful wedding it was, and a fun couple to work with!
Here's my favorite shot of the day.

Nature & Wildlife photography is often about sacrifice and dedication. For this particular scene I had to hike 45 min to reach the top. Soon, a heavy shower came by, which didn't discourage and ultimately led to this magical sunset scenery.

Originally the state of New York was planning to place a prison on top of Bear Mountain.
Construction and clearing had already begun when Mrs. Mary W. Harriman met with park officials. In 1909 she dedicated approximately 10,000 acres in Rockland and Orange Counties along with $1,000,000 but with the agreement that the commission forget the prison idea.
The state took the offer and moved the prison to Ossining. The prison was named "SIng Sing" and Bear Mountain Sate Park began in 1910.

Atop Henry's Knob, a mountain and Superfund Alternative Site in York County, South Carolina, 1120' above sea level, near the border of North Carolina; I am standing across the road from my cousin's front yard, near what remains from kyanite mining 1947 to 1970, at that time the world’s largest known deposit of kyanite, used in ceramics and electronics industries
To all who visit and view, and – especially – express support and satisfaction: you are much appreciated!

Joe and I went to my cousin Amy's for a Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, a lovely weekend day for a family get-together. We had a great time – and feasted wonderfully.
Sunset is a real treat where Amy lives: she has a view like this from her house!
Hope you enjoy the 33% of 3 photos we took here on this day!
A strong temperature inversion made it warm, clear, and sunny at the top of Cougar Mountain. Down below, it was cold and foggy.
