This is a still from Monty Python's Flying Circus with the subtitles on. I thought it was funy - maybe it's part of the joke but I doubt it - that the descriptive video is decribing what John Cleese is doing. If you can't see him immitating a propeller... then you prolly can't read that he's imitating a propeller.

Walking up from Highgate tube station to the East Cemetery, you pass the house at 89 Southwood Lane where Graham Chapman of Monty Python fame used to live during the 70s with his partner David Sherlock. Why no blue plaque ?

How do you capture the essence of a television show which originally ran from 1969 to 1974 in England, leapt to the US and hit it even bigger, spawned movies, and albums and books, inspiring comedians and artists along the way in one picture? Well, you can't. But that won't stop me from trying.

Day three of the theme week "Flickr Group Roulette". Whatever daily group is chosen over at FGR, I will do my best to take a self portrait fitting that group.

Today's group is Movie quote and this is one of my favourite quotes from "Monty Python's Life of Brian".

Brian: "You are all individuals."

Brian's Followers: "Yes, we are all indivduals"

One single follower: "I'm not".

Please tell me I don't have to explain it.

I'd like to take the opportunity to thank the cast from left to right ... Justine, Mike, Matthew, David, Me and my Mum.

Didn't see it. Nope. No idea where it is. Really:). Even if I wanted to help you, I couldn't. No loonies here. Really. VRAIMENT. Meme pas une...

(Monty Python, Episode 38 -

Presenter - "And we'll be inviting them to... Spot the Loony. (a phone rings on the desk; he picks it up) Yes? Quite right ... A viewer from Preston there who's pointed out correctly that the entire panel are loonies."...

Hhhmmm....a comment to take to heart, perhaps,LOL)

For 365days an FGR

Crowd: Yes! We're all individuals!

Brian: You're all different!

Crowd: Yes, we *are* all different!

Man in crowd: I'm not...

Crowd: Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

And you know what, Jesus was cool, and I reckon he would have actually said something like that :)

The beautiful stained glass window in Holy Trinity Church. I'm not religious but I love going in churches and there's something about stained glass that makes me feel nice. They remind me of the Magic Roundabout kaleidoscope I had when I was little. The colours are so beautiful.

Sorry, didn't save the original source photo, but it's from flickr.

Do you know Mr. Creosote from Monty Python? :)

My dog celebrated National Dog Day with a close encounter with this fellow, who I have named Ozymandias, King of Ants! Look upon my feelers, termites, and despair...I am the biggest ant you'll ever see. The ants of old weren't half as bold and big and fierce as ME!

classic monty python karaoke!! :) it's even funnier if you read the katakana the way it's supposed to be read in japanese! tokyo, japan.

How to recognise different types of tree from quite a long way away. Number one - the larch.

Monty Python mug with the words to 'Always Look on the Bright side of Life" that I purchased at Wollongong University in 1995. Definitely one of my favourite things in the world :D

Michael Edward Palin, CBE (born 5 May 1943), is an English comedian, actor, writer and television presenter best known for being one of the members of the comedy group Monty Python and for his travel documentaries.

Palin wrote most of his material with Terry Jones. Before Monty Python, they had worked on other shows such as The Ken Dodd Show, The Frost Report and Do Not Adjust Your Set. Palin appeared in some of the most famous Python sketches, including "The Dead Parrot", "The Lumberjack Song", "The Spanish Inquisition" and "Spam". Palin continued to work with Jones, co-writing Ripping Yarns. He has also appeared in several films directed by fellow Python Terry Gilliam and made notable appearances in other films such as A Fish Called Wanda, for which he won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role

This is a beer marketed as being official Monty Python's Holy Grail Ale.

NICK: Hey, Nimmie, I just learned a great new song about wood chopping! It starts out, 'I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay, I sleep all night and I work all day! I---'

NIMMIE: Nick, I really think you should stop right there.

NICK: But--

NIMMIE: Just don't. I'll explain it to you later.

(Poor Nick, he's so naive. He doesn't understand that a seemingly innocent song can suddenly turn out to be about cross-dressing. He also doesn't understand why there aren't enough peppy wood chopping songs. I guess I can understand his frustration there.)

I love Monty Python so I made these shrubberies. They are such happy little trees

he's not dead.....he's resting.... pining for the fjords..

This Great Spotted Woodpecker flew into our window a few days ago and I initially feared that it had died. However, after 45 minutes in a quiet, dark box, it revived and flew off.

Woodpeckers are amazing birds. They have a number of evolutionary adaptations to reflect their lifestyle.

1. The cells in the tips of their bills are constantly replaced to stop their bills from wearing down.

2. They have lengthened hyoid apparatus, which means that they can extend their tongues further than most birds.

3. Their tail feather are much stiffer than normal feathers in order to give the woodpecker additional support.

4. They have zygodactyl feet, meaning that they have two front-facing toes and two back-facing. Most songbirds have three and one.

5. They have sinewy attachments to the base of the bill to absorb the shock of hammering at trees and thereby avoid brain damage.

6. They have bristly feathers over their nostrils to protect them from inhaling sawdust.
