Week #33 - Mementos
Mono Monday
Sorry everyone - this was my 3rd trip to Birmingham in under a fortnight. Hours of driving - over 1000 miles in all. Home for now, but with a lot of work & tight deadlines to meet. I'll catch up with photos & comments as soon as possible,
Monday 2 June 2014: MONOMONDAY CHALLENGE: Three
I very nearly didn't undertake the challenge this week as I was finding it very time consuming checking out and replying to everyone's journals, plus, when I took this photo it looked so lovely in colour it seemed a shame to convert it to mono. However, when I did convert it I noticed lots of detail in the flowers and foliage than I had previously not spotted in the colour version so I thought I would go ahead and enter it anyway. Not at all original, but here are three gerberas!
I do hope this counts as an Architectural Detail. I took it in Malta last year in St John's Co-Cathedral in Valetta which was built by the Knights of Malta between 1573 and 1578. A quite stunningly building inside.
Hamish inspecting the fruit. His verdict..?? Still a little green... :-)

Can't Pack Your Bags without doing the laundry! And my favorite laundrymat has specials on Monday, so here is my Mono Monday shot for this week.
I guess not, but as I have nothing else to post I will try it on with the the very wonderful, handsome and special people that are our admins/moderators.
Setting out from the Port of Leith, for who knows where....

I can't live without - winning!
I don't actually think I'm very competitive, but, I play a lot of curling & I never set foot on the rink hoping to lose... :)
This is the trophy my team got for winning the Inverness Ladies Knock-out this year.
This herd of deer were in my front yard. After a few minutes they all crossed into the street. The car in the distance waited patiently as they cleared out of the street. Only the baby one stayed put. I clapped my hands and walked towards him and then he joined the rest.
Spring IS in the air.

Headlines of an original paper, from a collection of old newspapers I have from the war years ( ps I wasnt born till 1951 ! )
Some of my favorite cookbooks are those with recipes gathered from a particular group of people. These books, published by a sorority, have particularly good recipes.
Shot for 7 Days of Shooting. Week #11 - Books and Novels / Mono Monday, but I didn't use it. Went for the garden books shot, instead.
I didn't take this photograph but I did process it. Taken by my sister (D2) last month. Versailles is one of the places definitely on my list to visit next year.
7 days of shooting. Mono Monday.
Take on the old joke "What's black and white and read all over?" A newspaper. Well International Newspaper!!. Also I thought it was kind of fitting for mono Monday as this joke should be told in a monotone for best effect. :D
I took this on Edinburgh's Royal Mile today. I knew there was a newsagent that sold international newspapers. Hope you like.
