The monogram for Our Lady was a popular pilgrim's badge worn by those who had visited her shrines. Tomorrow is the feast of Our Lady of Walsingham and this monogram is the badge used by the Shrine there.

July 2006 -- homemade crystal monogram for the blue wedding cake

These models come from a 1862 French magazine called 'journal des demoiselles' (more or less 'the young lady's journal', in English). Different monograms and a bedlinen border. The magazine was aimed at well-to-do young girls from the French bourgeoisie and mixed needlecraft, fashion plates and sentimental (though strictly respecting catholic tutorship -censorship ?-) short stories. It is quite clear that the needlecraft average skills at the time were MUCH HIGHER than what they are nowadays ;)

Monogram cookies I made for a friend's wedding shower. The bridal couples first names and new last name all begin with T's. I used hand cut stencils for the letters and hand piped to other details.

A close up of the monogram. Brown sanding sugar for "sand" and the shells are white chocolate.

I restored this old model recently for a friend. It was built in the 70s by his childhood friend, who died in a private plane crash in the eighties. It was missing half of it's parts, so I had to improvise with paper clips, bits of styrene, and even a plastic spoon to replace the missing parts. I think it turned out OK. I've included the before, in progress, and after photos.

Finished the embroidered monogram and am ready to incorporate it into the project.

My first attempt at monogram cookies. It was a last minute request for a bridal shower. I think the small letters should be higher but not to bad for the first time.

I made 4 flavors for cookies and used 2 different color combinations. They were sugar cookie with vanilla icing, orange flavored sugar cookie with orange flavored icing, Butter pecan sugar cookie (with chopped pecans) and vanilla icing, and chocolate sugar cookie with vanilla icing. Hard to tell but some dots are red and soem are burnt orange.

This fabulous design was used with permission from decadent cookie...thank you Vicky!

I think the color looks a little better in the close up!
