The Northern Muriqui is a muriqui (woolly spider monkey) species endemic to Brazil. It is found in the Atlantic Forest region of the Brazilian states of Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais and Bahia. Muriquis are the largest species of monkeys in the Americas. The Northern Muriqui is listed as ‘CRITICALLY ENDANGERED’ on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Only about 500 individuals remain in the wild, and one third of those occur in a single forest, the RPPN (Private Reserve of Natural Patrimony) Feliciano Abdala, near Caratinga in the state of Minas Gerais.

Taken on Gibraltar. A few minutes after this photo was taken this ape snatched a Japanese tourist's shopping bag. No food... only magazines.

You would expect to find a Monkey Puzzle Tree outside a Victorian villa but maybe not in front of the semi-derelict buildings of the old Shoreham Cement Works. Anyway, I'm not lingering to find out why it is here!

"People born in the Year of the Monkey are fun-loving, energetic and inquisitive. Their intellect allows them to adapt to any situation, they are confident, charismatic, loyal and inventive.

Sometimes, the Monkey can be a little too curious for his or her own good, as well as careless, restless, immature and arrogant."

A monkey sits on a branch on a tree, deep in thought. Sometimes when you see photos like this it makes you wonder what could possibily be going in inside this little person's head.

Red Leaf Monkey (Presbytis rubicunda chrysea)- Danum Valley, Malaysia

Another photo of a red leaf monkey or maroon langur. These monkeys were alot of fun to watch as they jumped from tree to tree picking certain leaves off and eating them. This one looks surprised, I don't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure he was just chewing.
