Monkey appliqué on an Ottobre t-shirt that I'm working on. The t-shirt is
to be a gift for a 5th birthday. The monkey appliqué is from Ottobre
01/2008. The shirt is made from pink 100% cotton double knit and the monkey
is made from chocolate lycra and off-white double knit. Next time I'll
interface the light coloured appliqué pieces to stop the background from
showing through.
Not sure what is going on with the dirty marks on the monkey ... I only
noticed them after I completed the embroidery. I'll have to try washing
them out and *fingers crossed* that they aren't permanent.
This is my second attempt at the monkey appliqué. The first time around I
used satin stitch and it looked hideous ... because of my rather old sewing
machine I think. After some experimentation I decided that the open zig-zag
looked a lot better.
Costa Rica December, 2007.
A band of these monkeys chased us off the beach, wanting to grab anything that wasn't tied down. When we left, they followed for about 10 minutes, baring their teeth and charging.

It is nice to keep a cute creature like him at home as pet, but it's better to let him find his own home in the wild nature. Just give a little space for them in this planet to find their happiness. Everyone in this world is looking for happiness, they have the right too.
This is the back of a female white faced saki monkey (according to an employee) at the rainforest pyramid in Moody Gardens (Galveston, TX). She absolutely refused to turn around even for a moment.
Monkey in Vassouras, Maranhão, Brazil
I've chosen my best photos of Maranhão trip and published them in Maranhão, images of a Brazilian paradise, a visual recollection of the state of Maranhão, from the crumbling buildings of its capital, São Luís to the mesmerizing and unique landscapes of the Lençóis Maranhenses, through the fascinating celebration of the bumba-meu-boi festival .
Capuchin monkeys are tree-dwelling New World monkeys that live in central and southern America. These intelligent and clever monkeys use tools such as stones to crack open nuts, shellfish and crabs. Their abillity to be easily trained gave rise to their exploitation as organ grinder monkeys. They were named by explorers after their resemblance to an order of Catholic friars, the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin.
