All we needed was a bolt of lightning and we were able to resurrect my computer with very little fuss.

After the strips were neatly lined up I put scotch tape over them. Then I peeled away every other strip.

There was an exhibit on the Monitor in popular culture in the museum, and in addition to things like monitor salt shakers and songs about the epic battle, they had the original version of the Lindberg Monitor and Merrimac model I built last summer. It seems that the original kit came with an electric motor so you could run the Merrimac in the bathtub!
Now that I finally have some nice furniture on its way to my place I had to decide between replacing my aging monitor and buying a television or replacing my aging monitor with something I can also use as a television (seeing as I don't watch very much television).
In the end, I was able to save total space, save money, and get an extremely high resolution and very large PC monitor all in one.
What was the first thing I did with the monitor? Load Eve-Online of course. :)
PS - It's an Acer 2416w which is based on the current 6ms Samsung 24 inch 1920x1200 S-PVA display panel, just like in the Samsung 244t. Unlike the 244t it doesn't have HDCP (not that it matters) or a million adjustments, but is a good 35% less expensive than it and ships with reportedly better colour calibration out of the box.

I didn't cut enough 3" strips for the whole turret roof, so I used some from the cut-off end to cover the rest of the disk.
It's a hobby.
It said I was anxious on my vacation, which frankly kinda stressed me out. But then I realized that ithe ring just took a little time to warm up. :D
Spentn the afternoon listening to the revealing iPad coverage at live.twit.tv and live.gizmodo and live.engadget. Much guerilla coverage was welcomed. I can't wait to get one of these things. I think that it will be Anderson's textbook by the time he gets to high school.
