As it turns out this was my first capture of anything wildlife in digital , I guess there could have been some shot on film but wildlife has been a much later photo subject for me . Think and hope I have come a way since this shot back in early 2007 . The question came up from a recently joined group .

Oh ! I hear you say " well where is the mole then ? "

Well , that would be the River Mole as it flows through Cobham and the shot was taken from the edge of the road as it goes through the village .

Mrs Heidi's main concern is to keep her house neat and tidy!

We found this dead Mole as we were doing a work party on Laindon Common. It is the first time I've seen one.

The first pages of my first moly exchange, which I'm doing with Lynne-paintistworks.It's so exciting, like embarking on a new adventure.

MOLTOX is back bigger! Introducing the MOLE DRILLER, its function to bore through unbreakable minerals and rock with its massive drill head.

On the open roads of Mare Serenitatis, a heavily travelled route sits the Serenitatis Quarry in the centre of the Mare which has concentrated veins of crimson Zircon crystal deposits. Zircon crystals are highly sought after and heavily used in manufacturing equipment ranging from lasers to optics. Its large formations are hard to mine and require specialized machinery.

* After making the Carbide Driller I just thought of a use for the hero factory spike ball piece as a drill bit and it turned out amazing. Then the shape of the driller had to be like a star nosed mole just cus of the spike ball matches it's nose. For the canopy I do enjoy using flextube but this build was perfect for the power miners roll cage.

* I am also surprised with Stud.io's rendering engine. The crystal formation reflectiveness and clarity is pretty lifelike. I only had to do minor adjustments in photoshop.

* Here's the link to download the custom 1x1 octagon vent tile at the front of the drill in .OBJ

Yes, I really enjoyed my night shooting downtown (always with my teacher, of course! )

Down by the river ( River Mole ) and a row of dramatic shadows that caught my eye along with so many exposed roots . Next week's SSC is straight shadows in B&W - well this is shadows , but they are wiggly , in colour and taken before the challenge was set so this will not be next week's shot .

The road bridge just in shot is at the bottom of Young Street usually called The Canadian Road as the road was built back in the days if World War 2 . This newer bridge replaces the the old and original single lane Bailey Bridge ------

In 1940 it became urgent to improve the road system in south-east England because of the threat of invasion. This 1 1/4 mile stretch of road was built to by-pass Leatherhead. It was built by Royal Canadian Engineers and is named after their Commander, Commander Young. Construction involved a bridge under the railway close to a bridge over the River Mole. The river bridge was a noisy Bailey Bridge, inevitably named by the locals "the rickety-rackety bridge". Both bridges remained in use until 1973 when they were replaced. Young Street was opened in 1941 by the then Prime Minister of Canada Mackenzie King.

Prior to D-Day the woods on the Surrey Hills were full of encampments of Canadian soldiers. The Canadians were very friendly to young lads who found all this very exciting . Info blipphoto .

I have to add that to us the old Bailey Bridge was and is still referred to as " The Bang Bang Bridge " - the sound created by the cars driving over the loosely fitting timbers of the road surface ( something like old railway sleepers ) .

Ilhéu Mole is a small island off the north coast of Madeira at Porto Moniz, only about 200m across. On top is a small hexagonal lighthouse, Farol do Porto Moniz. Most striking are the outcrops of dark basalt rocks which form 2 groups of tidal rock pools, popular for swimming. The natural pools close to this island are quite dangerous with sharp, slippery rocks. The western group has been turned into a lido complex which is safer for family bathing. This view helps to illustrate how much wilder the Atlantic Ocean is on the north of the island compared with the south

The South and North moles were built by Western Australia’s legendary chief engineer CY O’Connor as part of the Fremantle harbour works, which began in 1893.

Nei prossimi scatti seguiranno sia la collina, sia le Alpi!

Buona domenica a tutti!

Moles spend most of their lives underground and rarely appear above ground. But baby Moles are born in June and stay in the mother's tunnel for about five weeks when they are ejected. This is why most mole sightings above ground are in August. Most mole hills appear without any sign of a mole above ground but when young leave the mother's tunnel they do emerge, leaving molehills with a characteristic hole in the middle. The young then disperse above ground and establish a tunnel of their own. They live a solitary life in their tunnels, but males burrow through the earth to find female tunnels during April and May, but once he's mated he returns to his own tunnel. Most mammals have fur that grows in one direction, which is why you stroke a dog from front to back. But moles have no lie as their fur just rises vertically like velvet, which allows them to move forwards and backwards in a narrow tunnel. They feed almost entirely on earthworms and insect larvae (eg leatherjackets) but when they are on the surface they occasionally eat slugs and snails.

Last Saturday morning I was out early and I spotted a mole scampering above ground which quickly disappeared into the vegetation. But close to where it was I found a mole hill with a fresh hole in the middle. While I was looking at that a second mole appeared and scampered away like the first. But this time I had the camera ready and managed a couple of shots before it vanished. I waited again but there was no further activity.

Should this barbaric practice still exist? this was a tiny section. The length of this fence with a mole on each barb was a couple of hundred yards long!

If anyone is interested on the sicko's who practice this here is a link

Sunset is a busy time on the Mangalsala mole.

Diese Aussicht hat man von der "Bank am Strand".

This is actually not built as part of the battle beasts thing that is going around, but fits in nicely. I was bored, my girlfriend told me to draw a picture of a mole in sweet battle armour. I can't draw very well.

He found them in my brother's new apartment, and brought them home to me. Today I also received a deer leg from another friend. Gifts from people who know me well. How I appreciate them-- the people, and the gifts. Thank you!
