URBAN PROGRAMMING OF DONGPING.FOSHAN
The workshop focus on digital design techniques and prototypical propositions for how new local housing developments attempting to adapt and possibly mitigate for periodical flooding and flash floods caused by severe weather. The workshop brief readily accepts the need for a radical typological and morphological change in how buildings meet the ground and interface with the floodplain in areas vulnerable to severe flooding. Alleviating direct ground contact with living space could potentially save lives and reduce the cost of reconstruction and hence fundamentally readdressing the spatial and typological configurations of the dwellings. Working between the master plan and the individual housing unit, we will investigate the generation of an array of homes suited along a proposed street with an associated potential of parametric modulation within the series. We will discuss the qualitative effects and sociological affects of these serial modulations and explore the internal differentiation and spatial individuality that can be grown through morphing the serial parameters resulting in an adaptive urbanism suited for vast blank sites.

Conventional construction methods all depart from the basic premises of mass production: standardization, modulation and a production line. What these systems developed during the last two centuries fail to take into account are the evolutionary leaps and bounds the manufacturing industry has taken over the last decades. With the introduction of CNC technologies and rapid prototyping machines have altered the paradigms of fabrication forever. It is due to these new tools that it is now possible to create (n) amount of completely unique and different pieces with the same amount of energy and material that is required to create (n) identical pieces. The possibilities for implementation of new forms, textures, materials and languages are infinite due to the versatility that these new tools offer a growing network of architects, designers, fabricators that are integrating them into their professional practices to generate unique and precise objects that respond to countless data and real-life conditions.

Using Gene Modulation Techniques in Treating HIV Infected Individuals:
There are two known genetic copies of a rare variant of a cell surface receptor that confers resistance to HIV infection by blocking attachment of HIV to the cell.
We can take those genes from a [CCR5]-Δ32 homozygous individual or make them by gene building techniques.
Transfer those genes to cell of HIV infected patients. Use newly rising methods of gene regulation by recruiting viral vectors.

Outcome:
The subtle textures in this picture are one of my favorite details. I love photographing metal with it's subtle imperfections and reflections. The dark edges of the plate give it much more emphasis.
