I have had an idea to take photographs of the same diatom slide (a small arrangement) using various contrast techniques for comparison.
The photos are labelled A-K. I know what each was taken with. Techniques (in no particular order!) include;
dark-ground
phase contrast
Hoffman Modulation Contrast (HMC) (DIY)
DIC
oblique
bright-field
relief contrast (Leica, I think designed for inverted)
variable amplitude contrast (VAC)
All were taken with a x10 Plan Apo objective, apart from a couple eg. Phase which is a x10 Plan Fluor
All are stacked images of 7-11 individual images, and processing is minimal, and broadly the same.

A new advancement in signal routing of bent instruments, the mag patch bay allows multi-connections to a single point, impossible with the traditional single-plug-in-jack bays. This increases chance modulation possibilities.
Puppy Mover Monorail locomotive guts. In the middle are the electronics. Under the black box is a Pulse-Width Modulation Electronic Speed Controller, by Critical Velocity. Works great, and can handle the 24 volts / 100 watts.

Digital Modulation 'DM' Box. This was used with the C42 No.3 and C45 No.3 and the BID150 encryption unit to provide a secure speech channel.

ERROR! The modulation control keypad (on the right) is fitted upside-down in this photo. I discovered this when the buttons did the wrong things and I had to unscrew it and turn it round.
