So much fun... and I forgot to tell the artist that it was on pots and
pans that I learned to play.

"The sublimated Doiro. A prodigy of a landscape that stops being so by force of loosing its
measures. Is not a panorama that the eyes contemplate: it is an excess of nature. The stone terraces are steps from titanic men going up the slopes, volumes, colours and modulations that no sculptor, painter or musician can translate, expanded horizons beyond the plausible thresholds of vision. A virginal universe, as if it had just been born, and already eternal through harmony, through serenity, through silence that not even the river itself dares to break, sometimes disappearing stealthily behind the hills and others bewildered at its depths reflecting its own amazement. A geological poem. The absolute beauty.“ Miguel Torga in Diário XII

I have had an idea to take photographs of the same diatom slide (a small arrangement) using various contrast techniques for comparison.
The photos are labelled A-K. I know what each was taken with. Techniques (in no particular order!) include;
dark-ground
phase contrast
Hoffman Modulation Contrast (HMC) (DIY)
DIC
oblique
bright-field
relief contrast (Leica, I think designed for inverted)
variable amplitude contrast (VAC)
All were taken with a x10 Plan Apo objective, apart from a couple eg. Phase which is a x10 Plan Fluor
All are stacked images of 7-11 individual images, and processing is minimal, and broadly the same.
The first modulation of luminous matter: the moment when visibility differentiates itself from indeterminacy.

I am working on a concept of an integraterless delta sigma ADC. Tonight I figured it out. The analog signal is modeled in red, the demodulated signal in blue. as you can see there is a heck a lot of fit!
simple polyphonic synthesizer with a high pass+low pass, attack release and amplitude modulation.
it uses wavetable oscs so you can draw any waveforms you want in the three green arrays on the right.
first version pretty fugly still.
Lots of options here. The LFO Modulation button is the only thing on my unit that does not work. Apparently they often went bad but are easy to fix (have to get around to that).
about 0 to 100% duty cycle, up to 4kW (if used with not included heat-sinks), about 28kHz pulse width modulation frequency (PWM)

Heres the back again. You can plug in a modulation pedal like the Roland EV5 and set it to control absolutely anything and combinations of absolutely anything on the keyboard. This leave your hands free to play big chords, while letting your foot do the sound modification.
In Your Car featured two concurrent sound projects broadcasting on local frequencies, Park Park Revolution and Ping Modulation. Shot Thursday, May 5, 2011 at MOCA Grand Avenue.

Armstrong Rubber Comapny Building, a.k.a. Pirelli Tire Building, now the Breuer Hotel (Marcel Breuer and Robert F. Gatje, 1966-1970). A Brutalist statement piece: sure, you could just stack the offices over the research spaces, but why not hoist them? The cladding of precast concrete units, building surface modulation and relief right into the system, is just the icing on the cake. At the top, and along the shear walls at the short ends, Breuer lets the panels become purely decorative, although there's some notion that the diagonal lines represent the prestressed cables in the concrete... or something. They also visually united the upper levels of this building with the low-rise warehouse block, which was unfortunately demolished in 2004 when most of the site was converted into a parking lot.
Gut microflora has a critical role in providing immunity, improved digestion, and resistance to pathogenic infections.1 The gut microflora differs in composition and diversity among breast-fed and formula-fed infants.2 A major innovation is the modulation of the microflora through diet; a community of beneficial microbes can be obtained by adding prebiotics in infant feed.2
