Kingdoms Modular Lego Castle To see a video demonstration of this system go to www.youtube.com/watch?v=6M6T5OBxByM
I have submitted this modular Lego castle system to Lego Ideas as the Kingdoms Modular Castle. If you like this system, please vote for it.
Our LUG's next building challenge is a modular standard building but only 8 studs wide. I randomly picked a blue and dark gray 8x16 so I thought it'd be neat to have a lake house. Of course, now I have to hope it'll eventually be displayed next to some water.
I kept the masonry bricks out of this because while it might look like it needs more detail on the outside, typical lake/beach houses are long slats. I thought it might look better.
Next step is to order all the parts I don't already have. I'm really happy with this one, so I hope it holds up IRL.
GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN - This is a vintage piece from Scandinavia (or two pieces, rather) that our indefatigable intern Jasper painted for us. What was once run-of-the-mill has become anything but, with colors that really pop, but stay grounded enough (with the grey and blue) not to overwhelm a room. Also, super-practical storage!
Width 80cm, depth 37.5cm, height 58cm (per piece)
my design, but it's so simply, that it's quite possible, that it exists somewhere - and so it is... as Haligami pointed out, it's traditional design...
from 8 units, quite effective use of paper:
8 squares 1,8 cm -> 3,5 cm star (red-green)
8 squares 3,75 cm -> 6,9 cm star (blue-white)
As soon as Premium X/Ixo announced that they will make the 1996 Town Car, I waited for almost 1 year an a half til it became available. Before it was released, I also found out it would be Diecast so it was even better and affordable unlike it's other resin versions which reach top dollar, like the inaccurate 1997 one by GLM which looks like it's been carved from a soap.
This is one of my favourite generation of Town Cars, specifically this facelift model from the 1995-1997 - the refreshed version of the 1990-1994 models which has a softer looking grille and a thiner headlights and some other minor differences. Many considered that this facelift generation of Town Car was one of the best as it was very refined and not cheaped out and also due to it's styling.
As for the model, it is very accurate, unlike some of its resin versions from other companies. I'm not so sure about the stance as it is standing a little high in my opinion. Every detail is in the model as well, such as the tiny little badges and the hood ornaments, the chrome is fantastic, although in some areas, the chrome looks weak, and looks as it will peel-off. The stubs on the headlights ruins it and the wheels is not bad, though the tires doesn't look good because of the size of the thread that looks like it's winter tires or something or an off-road tires, could have been better with a thin whitewalls in my opinion. The interior on the other hand is fantastic, considering it's size, most of the details are there and painted to match the actual car's interior. I also love the tiny details such as the license plates. These are currently avaiable, though on a bit on the expensive side but not that expensive compared to the other resin models.
Up the stairs will be 1/F, where you are greeted by the Toy Story shelf and the Lightyear figure. You can try the 3-eye Alien headpiece! Turning around is the much anticipated Frozen shelf, with all the icy items you can purchase! See that girl who is in love with the Snowgie cushions? You can also meet Elsa, Anna and Olaf and take pictures with them! Then you will see the little food corner, facing the staircase to the roof top.
This is my first attempt at making a modular street scene, it's a work in progress so comments and critiques are more than welcome.
My latest experiment in something other than standard modular buildings. The alley features a dead end, some boxes and a dumpster.
Here is another section of modular terrain. This time I chose to do a stream, since water is one of the areas where I think modular terrain standards could benefit from an update.
Here is the first module, showing the axles I have inserted in preparation for connecting the two modules.
A recent experiment with modular drawing. All sections drawn in 58 minutes. Starting with one drawing across a trifold, I used folds in subsequent drawings as seeds for other ones. Some patterns only appear when two sheets are folded and aligned.
There are some inaccuracies because I would occasionally draw across a fold by accident.
