Aron having fun with the reflector, and a perfect example of bad framing.
A snapshot from the Flickristi Modelshoot.
Models: Bernice, Christine Pollacco.
Stylist: Mandy Farrugia.
Strobist: X1600 in an 86" PLM in "softbox" mode (translucent PLM, black/silver backing, and translucent front cover), as key at f/11. 2 B800s in strip boxes, sans diffusers, 1.5 stops over for the background.
Triggering with Pocket Wizards.
PP in LR3/CS5.
FINALLY settled on the B&W version of this.
Strobist: B400 in a beauty dish boomed over camera axis, f/8. B800 on a 40º grid for background, unmetered.

A wee selection of pics from a few old modelshoots I've revisited recently. This is Debbie at Broughty Ferry.
Brandi is a body builder who is entering a fitness competition. I would say her level of fitness is high. She is also quite beautiful (I know I had to tell you that); I removed a couple of small blemishes but that was it for post. No general skin retouching.
Strobist: Key is an X1600 in a white 86" PLM in shoot-thru mode, camera left, f/11 at ISO 200. The background is lit with 2 B800s in reflective umbrellas, 1/2 stop over.

Strobist: 4 lights. A variation on clamshell lighting I call "over/under". The key is an Elinchrom Quadra A head in the Deep Octa, without the outer baffle, boomed over camera axis, at f/5.6. Under this is a B800 in a large octa, providing fill at f/4. B800 on a 20º grid at the background (which is a white cyc), Another B800 as a rim/hairlight behind and camera right. The 2 accent lights are seasoned to taste - no meter readings.

Mayhem #806843
Model is Leisl.
Strobist: AB800 w/ 7" reflector, camera right. AB800 w/ 20º grid, camera left, 1 stop hotter.
PP in Lightroom.
Model is Lady Rosetta.
Strobist: Key is a B400 in a small softbox, camera left, f/8. There is a B800 in a gridded strip box providing the rim, camera right and behind (opposite the key) at f/4. There is another B800 on a 40º grid providing a small highlight on the background for a little bit of separation, not metered but at 1/16 power. Triggered by Pocket Wizards.
I am re-posting as LR, in its infinite wisdom, decided to remove a batch of images from my photostream. I'm sure it was my fault. Really.

This image was inspired by a photograph of Norma Shearer by George Hurrell c. 1932. It is part of an ongoing project to recreate images based on classic Hollywood glamor photography using stroboscopic lighting.
The image was moved 90º due to an injury (not my fault!) to the model's hand. The original image placed the hand by the face, and we had to switch sides so the large bandage wouldn't show. Like most of the images I took, this is by no means a faithful reproduction and in fact the original served more as a starting point.
Model is Charlie Boudreax
Strobist: Key is a B800 in socked beauty dish, camera right at f/8. There is fill close to camera, left, at f/4 from a B400 in a medium softbox. Another B800 is behind the model at 45º, camera left, providing a rim/hair light (this was not in the original photograph but necessary due to the raven black hair of the model).
