Photo from my last Poland trip with a miscalibrated Leica M240 but luckily here I got a usable photo.
..I tend to (always!) favour film photography over digital so mostly use my digital cameras just to test or to warm up the models. I don't post many of the digital images as wait to develop the film. On occasion the film cameras can fail or something go not to plan and so very few photos get shared from a certain model or trip. The last Poland trip was a bit like this. One roll of colour film didnt spool properly so I got 36 blanks. In Ukraine the M3 was miscalibrated.. etc etc. As such I will now try to go back and share some more digital images.
The last Poland trip was a double slap in the face as both the digital and film cameras were failing me at times. Blog to follow at some stage.

Twinka is one of the world's most famous models, going as far back as modeling for Imogene Cunningham. She's 78 and still has it.
model; Olaf Aarts
Photographer: Bram van Dal
1/180 F/6.7 100 Canon 5DmkIII Sigma 85mm
In this photo I have placed a small octabox above Olaf by means of a tree tripod, in such a way that his face is well lit and he has very subtly small points of light in his eyes.
Due to the position of the lamp, less light falls on his hands.

By letting go of rules, you will discover new possibilities. In this photo, both left and right are behind a studio lamp, which is equipped with a softbox, but without a cloth, which normally makes the light more diffuse.
This harsh light beautifully emphasizes the texture of his skin.
On the right front is a third studio lamp with an umbrella with a silver interior.
The hard light from the back makes this photo very strong for me.

I never have an idea in advance, but by using insights from each other, you can discover new opportunities and possibilities at every location.
Also in this photo it is not that I took the photo, I did that together with the model.
