Walter Cronkite, one of America's leading news reporters and journalist, died two days ago at the age of 92. He was the man who told America President John F. Kennedy had died, and informed us of so many important events in our history. Like so many other Americans growing up in the 1950s and 1960s, he was to me America's most trusted man. Walter Cronkite was a role model to so many and he will be greatly missed by the world.
This is the oldest British flyable aircraft.
Built in 1912 by Robert Blackburn, it is the only one of this model constructed.
If you look very carefully, you can just see the engine cylinders, below the propeller shaft, which rotate around the crankshaft in the opposite direction to the propeller, as this is a rotary engine (not to be confused with a radial engine.)
Turns are aided by warping or twisting the wings via cables. Wing warping was invented and patented by the Wright Brothers, who vigorously defended their patents - it is likely that Wilbur, in particular, spent more time in court than he ever spent in the air.
Despite its fragile appearance, the Blackburn type D was capable of 60mph and a flight duration of more than 2 hours.
The aircraft was damaged in a landing accident in 1914 and later purchased by Richard Shuttleworth. It was restored to flight in 1947 and can be seen on calm days flying at The Shuttleworth Collection's base of Old Warden.
Watercolour and conte on drawing paper.
During one of our group life drawing sessions we managed to convince this very unwilling fella to be our model, since the one we had hired never showed. He did a fantastic job, and over the course of the afternoon began to actually enjoy himself. When we arrived home however, my husband declared that it was fun but a tough way to earn a living. He has not modeled since. This was one of my sketches resulting from that afternoon.
Foto del verano.... queda algo lejos la verdad... sobre todo viendo aún la nieve restante de estos dÃas por la ventana.

I don't often take wildlife photos but this horse, in a field near Ardentinny, was very photogenic and seemed keen to have its photo taken. I think that it expected an apple, or some sugar, for its efforts but all I could offer it was some green, green grass from the other side of the road :)

The contrast between the bright gold tones at Arine compared to the beautiful dark brown tones in the background really appeals to me.
In this shoot I tried out my latest backdrop, in which certain color tones in the backdrop repeat themselves.
In the coming period I will look for more options.
But I'm at peace with this photo.
