I'm preparing a 'direct mail' (yes, junk mail) postcard campaign to promote my portrait business. Mother's Day is coming up, so I hired a model and her son for a beach shoot. This is the image I've picked for the mail out, but I haven't finished the design of the card yet.

Strobist and misc info:

Umbrella camera left on a pole, with SB-28 and SB-20 in a homemade bracket, both set to 1/2 power. Fill is the ambient, with the sun adding a hairlight/kicker on the right.

I double processed the RAW data in Lightroom: once for the subjects, once for the background, then blended them manually via layers in Ps.

Shot on a Fuji S5 Pro. Location 'Big Rock Beach', Malibu, CA.

The 2906. One of only two streamlined engines the UP ever ran.
