The Ford Model T (colloquially known as the Tin Lizzie, T‑Model Ford, Model T Ford, or T) is an automobile that was produced by Henry Ford's Ford Motor Company from October 1, 1908 to May 27, 1927. It is generally regarded as the first affordable automobile, the car that opened travel to the common middle-class American; some of this was because of Ford's efficient fabrication, including assembly line production instead of individual hand crafting. The Ford Model T was named the world's most influential car of the 20th century in an international poll.
It's Freight Car Friday but instead of a specific car this week is just a simple view of the classic all American mixed freight train. It's heavy with boxcars including older Plate C cars and modern high cube Plate Fs along with a nice mix of gondolas, tank cars, covered hoppers, coiled steel cars, and center beam flat cars....a true modelers delight.
This is Norfolk Southern train 14Z, a Knoxville to Allentown manifest that came off the Pulaski District from Bristol and points south at Walton just a couple miles behind them.
They are approaching the Switchback Road grade crossing on Main 1 of modern day NS' Christianburg District at about MP N295.5 as they pass beneath the famous Vicker coal tower. This imposing structure was built in 1951 as a further example of the N&W's commitment to steam far longer than many other Class 1s. Alas it only served a short nine years before the last fire was dropped in May 1960. Prior to this being built there was a fascinating balloon loop trestle and loaded coal hoppers were spotted atop it to load coal directly from the railcar into the tender of a steam locomotive below.

When we were walking and got to this picnic table, Benni hopped up and assumed a modeling position, over the shoulder, looking off into the distance. It made me laugh because I hadn't planned on having her on the table for a photo op.
(She got a little piece of cheese as payment.)

Leanne Cable model taken on an all day shoot in a manor house in Dorset. This is one of the 'posh' pictures we both like and she is now using it as her Facebook profile photo.
My latest code 3 model is of a Highways England Traffic Officers Mitsubishi Shogun. The scale is 1:43rd and is based on a Vitesse model. The model came in silver so no painting required. As is the norm it came LHD but I cheated and stole the interior from a spare Australian Police one I had so instant RHD. Decals were drawn from photo's supplied by an aquaintance who actually drives this particular car down in the South West part of the country. Decals were printed out on a HP200 Colour Laser Printer onto white backed paper supplied by craftycomputerpapers.co.uk. Lightbar is by 2dmodels. Really pleased with this one.
