Foto dedicada a Maria Angeles ;-)

MariLou is waffling back and forth between wanting to be a boy and wanting to be a girl. It's a bit of a hassle switching the MNF neckpiece from girl body to boy body and back, so I wish (s)he would make up her mind...

I'm using an Apple iSight as the IR camera for the FTIR table I'm using to develop Touché with. I hope this photo series helps others modding their iSight camera for IR vision. It's really easy to take the camera apart, and the visible light filter that needs to be replaced with an IR filter is not glued in at all - it just falls out.

I've been feeling a bit of a wobble with Grace... so I'm hoping a new wig might help!

She's very lovely, but I'm not sure she wouldn't be better off somewhere else...

Thanksgiving weekend 2013 at Cbad Cars in Carlsbad California.

This is our current RepStrap Setup. Because we could not find a replacement for our broken Y-axis stepper motor on the McWire Design we decided to use the CNC as our RepStraping Device in order to print a Darwin (or Mendel).

We interface with the CNC-control unit (which controls the 3 Axis and the end stops (which we don't use yet)) via a parallel port interface. We made an Arduino shield for that but sticked to the standard Arduino Firmware pin out.

Here we print our standard cylinder test shape with ABS at 230°C.

After some time spent modding, I'm now almost entirely happy now with my cat avatar. I made a handful of changes throughout: By modifying the shape and scooting down both halves of the jaw, I made the face a bit narrower to better suit a female cat. I modified the eye corners to make the eyes rounder and friendlier, rather than their out of box slant which almost looks mean. I pulled the whiskers from a copy of the upper jaw and modded them to make a smaller angled set of whiskers for the eyebrows—since I wear these as my usual neko self, they were a must on this avatar. I added a bit more fluff to the bottom of the head to better hide the seam of head and body. I offset the last texture on the back of the torso to make for a more subtle, ahem, rectum (not pictured—duh). Finally, I retinted the claws to white instead of black. I still wish I had a fluffy tail, and upon viewing these images I may need to nudge the ears down a bit, but on the whole I'm quite happy.

I've been wearing this avatar proudly, and it's wonderfully comfortable and well done. There are some problems with the AO (for example, if you sit and then move without hitting the stand button, the head remains fixed in a downwards position), the av doesn't like to turn in place, and it is larger than your average house cat, but those are limited complaints against all the wonderful things about the avatar. It's definitely what I was looking for, realistic and well constructed with a great AO and set of gestures on the HUD (the hissing gesture is photographed above). I'm lucky to have found the store, and very happy with the avatar.

I had fun with the BA prototype U-clip, see the results!

I wanted it in the same colours as my Warhammer 40K Orc army so I left the black and orange as it is :)

So I modded the Pullip clone body to accept vintage style heads. I first cut off 3mm off the neck and made sure it was angled right so the heads wouldn’t be looking upwards. I then hollowed out the neck.

I then got a broken barbie neck knob and flattened the ‘o’ ring part of it so it could fit into the thinner neck.. I then filled the neck full of hot glue and shoved the neck knob into the neck. I let it cool, then trimmed the knob smaller using nail clippers to match a vintage Francie neck knob, then thickened up the post with thread as I found the head shifted a bit too easily without a bit of bulk on the neck.

It may seem like a lot of effort but it’s there as an option if you dont want to ruin a vintage head and rather risk messing up a more modern body for it.

I’m waiting for the actual Francie to turn up before deciding if it suits her cuz from photos, she has a much pinker skin tone than my Growing Pretty hair Francie.

Also Yukko tries out the body but feels like a lollipop
