Social Innovation Camp started five years ago in the UK and has since then been run in 16 countries globally from which over 30 new social ventures have been created, with 12 receiving further funding, investment or significant in-kind support just in the UK alone.
In November 2012, Social Innovation Camp came to Southeast Asia with an event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Two of the InSTEDD iLab Southeast Asia's Project Managers, Sokha and Mann, traveled to KL to participate in the cross-sector collaborative event which brought together the best of SE Asia’s software developers and designers. The groups had just 48 hours to build some web/mobile-based solutions to a set of social problems – from back-of-the-envelope ideas that could change the world into social start-ups – complete with working software.

Assembly of the drop caster assembly is easy and straightforward. You can remove this if you want by turning the thumbscrews a few times and sliding them out. I don't foresee doing that. I'm going to have the wheel under the band saw table, where it'll be under the 4" collection hose as well, out of the way.

I wrote an article for the new issue of MAKE magazine that shows how to make a mobile based on Calder’s mobiles: makezine.com/projects/make-40/calder-mobile/. PDF version: www.make-digital.com/make/volume_40?pg=72 or subscribe to the magazine, they have lots of other great projects in each issue!
One of the confusing bits in the instructions here is that they seem to use * when they mean +. Also, they give incorrect information, it would seem. They tell you to add a half inch for clearance, and essentially then add 3" to each dimension. This was not correct. For the sides without the caster I only needed to add the half inch for clearance of the bolt heads inside. For the other sides, I actually forget what I did after all of the corrections, but it certainly wasn't 3" longer than the base dimension.
Obviously the floor needs a cleanup. Check out that wheel, and the base of the band saw. I kind of like the look of the darker wood with the black of the tools and mobile base brackets.

I might use these little cutoff bits in my mini mill. These are corrections, as the pieces I made based on the instructions were woefully incorrect. The instructions are wrong about the lengths, plain and simple.

I took the long sides (top/bottom here) apart about 4 times to correct mistakes. one of them was that the base wasn't long enough along their lengths. I had thought I was going to have to junk the parts, but instead I simply put a piece of tape on the brackets and 2x2s, marked a line where they connected, made another mark 0.5" away from that, slid the bracket down that half inch, then remarked the holes for drilling, and drilled new holes. These were far enough away not to interfere with the originals, which are now hidden inside the brackets. It was now the perfect length.
Getting it off the trolley was a bit trickier than I expected, but got there in the end. That epoxy floor coating really is very tough, even at this early stage! Note the two missing rubber feet - since found, happily. In any case the machine is also now back on its mobile base :). The object on the floor at least the LH corner of the table saw is a cheap - and nasty - disc sander, which I thoroughly regret purchasing (and I should have known better - there's no such thing asa cheap tool!)
