life is made of magic moments
The B&ML waterfront area in downtown Belfast, Maine. Summer '91. At this point, one of the green units - 52 - is a "boat anchor" and will be scrapped about 14 years later at the end of track on the edge of town. The other units and most of the equipment survive in some form. The line was removed from the waterfront in 2005.
Yet another slide test, this time using a D5300 DSLR, Nikon ES-1 duplicator rig and 5400k light panel. This method seems to need less color correcting adjustments. It's also about as sharp as a handheld telephoto slide will get without tons of tinkering. Not as good as it can be but pretty darned close.
Conrail ML-480X rolls down toward CP5 with a snow-encrusted consist which includes an SW-1500 third out. This train was most likely slowing to work Bellmans Yard and the Ridgefield Heights auto terminal. The lead unit is a former Pennsylvania Railroad SD40 (ex-PRR 6047) rebuilt by Juniata as an SD40-2R.

Just wanted to share some higher rez pics from the contest. Other than cropping, many of these pics haven’t been touched, so sorry about the lighting/quality.
Early, late, who knows. But what I do know, it was a perfect time to drop the first MRL train of the trip in our laps just east of Columbus.

Well, unfortunately it's not really made with a 4x5 camera as there are no tripods allowed there. Shot on a Nikon D7100, brought to black and white using the Mastin Labs HP5 presets in Lightroom CC, then watermarked with a selfmade 4x5 negative mask.
I will try to use these for archiving my digital hybrids as "real" negatives - and to start some Lith printing experiments.
Anyone out there selling a 4x5 enlarger?
