I nearly fainted when I found this in the bottom of the bag amongst other early Superfast Matchbox models and all in the same excellent condition! I never dreamed I would ever find this Cortina MK2 two door saloon in this condition for free so to say i'm overjoyed is an understatement!
Its fair to say they really don't make Matchbox cars like they used to judging by this gorgeous and oh so crisp looking early 1970's example. A beautifully weighty all metal construction, opening doors, working suspension, and intricately cast body details such as lights, badging and grille illustrate why this era of Matchbox is still looked back on with such fondness.

I wasn't fully satisfied how the original model had the arms connected to the body. After considering several workarounds, I found it better to just redo the entire torso, whilst trying to preserve the original silhouette.
