Miracle

I so wanted to stitch these two pictures together into a two photo “mosaic” but lack the skill and/or the app.

When I saw this small section on a wall, I thought I was looking at a medical ultrasound machine. The miracle of life.

After all, I don't see why I am always asking for private, individual, selfish miracles when every year there are miracles like white dogwood.

All of last year I wondered what this flowerless new plant in my garden was - a pink corn flower, it turns out!

This beautiful hotel is situated near the beach and has a lot of possibilities to enjoy the vacations. Special for children there are pools and a castle with famous figures, several theatres and much more.

We saw many families with children in February here.

The beautiful St. Anne de Beaupre Basilica is located near Quebec City. For hundreds of years, the faithful have journeyed here, hoping to be healed. The sanctuary is filled with discarded crutches, canes and wheelchairs, no longer needed...

Cats sleep, anywhere,

Any table, any chair

Top of piano, window-ledge,

In the middle, on the edge,

Open drawer, empty shoe,

Anybody's lap will do,

Fitted in a cardboard box,

In the cupboard, with your frocks-

Anywhere! They don't care!

Cats sleep anywhere.

I am so happy that I could almost cry this is the first photo of a damselfly that I’ve ever taken in my life. The only thing I did to this photo was crop it. I’m just amazed at how beautiful it came out, I hope you will be too!

The odd thing, the miracle is the fact that I was sitting on the porch flickering and I was admiring photos of dragonflies & damselflies, I said to myself “I haven’t seen a damselfly in this area but it would be nice to see one up close”. This little lovely fly must have been a guardian Angel because less than five minutes my want was granted. This scarlet beauty stayed still but also danced around from branch to branch. I haven’t gone through them yet, this is the very last shot I took.

I may not be able to thank everyone personally but I do try because I do appreciate you looking at my photograph, faving it, or commenting on it. I would love to know what you guys think. I don’t know about you but I’m tickled pink! THANK YOU EVERYONE!

Miracles start when you give as much energy to your dreams as you have to your fears

The inside of a hollow tree which is still alive. A true miracle to me

This is all I need after a long day. ♥

WHY! who makes much of a miracle?

As to me, I know of nothing else but miracles,

Whether I walk the streets of Manhattan,

Or dart my sight over the roofs of houses toward the sky,

Or wade with naked feet along the beach, just in the edge of the water, 5

Or stand under trees in the woods,

Or talk by day with any one I love—or sleep in the bed at night with any one I love,

Or sit at table at dinner with my mother,

Or look at strangers opposite me riding in the car,

Or watch honey-bees busy around the hive, of a summer forenoon, 10

Or animals feeding in the fields,

Or birds—or the wonderfulness of insects in the air,

Or the wonderfulness of the sun-down—or of stars shining so quiet and bright,

Or the exquisite, delicate, thin curve of the new moon in spring;

Or whether I go among those I like best, and that like me best—mechanics, boatmen, farmers, 15

Or among the savans—or to the soiree—or to the opera,

Or stand a long while looking at the movements of machinery,

Or behold children at their sports,

Or the admirable sight of the perfect old man, or the perfect old woman,

Or the sick in hospitals, or the dead carried to burial, 20

Or my own eyes and figure in the glass;

These, with the rest, one and all, are to me miracles,

The whole referring—yet each distinct, and in its place.

To me, every hour of the light and dark is a miracle,

Every cubic inch of space is a miracle, 25

Every square yard of the surface of the earth is spread with the same,

Every foot of the interior swarms with the same;

Every spear of grass—the frames, limbs, organs, of men and women, and all that concerns them,

All these to me are unspeakably perfect miracles.

To me the sea is a continual miracle; 30

The fishes that swim—the rocks—the motion of the waves—the ships, with men in them,

What stranger miracles are there?

Still catching up, but so amazingly happy to be back home with all of you!

Wishing you a fabulous weekend! Xoox

Railroaders on the Wisconsin Central will remember this one-mile stretch of track fondly, running between Shawano Jct and North Neenah, dubbed "The Miracle Mile." Legend has it that it took a "Miracle" to get permission over this mile during the high point of operations on the Wisconsin Central.

Nowadays, there's not much action in the Mile. Here, L523 with a couple of geeps heads towards Appleton to drop off cars for the FOXY, before heading to Kaukauna to do their work.

... is not to walk on water. The miracle is to walk on the green earth, dwelling deeply in the present moment and feeling truly alive.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Last Friday I was making my feral cat feeding rounds and stopped at my 8th Street location. I had poured out the food and looked down the walk and saw a kitten sprawled out. I went down to it and thought the worst because of the very cold temps. It was limp and lifeless. I picked it up and was going to take him to our vet for cremation. I turned it over to see what it looked like and its eyes were open and his mouth was moving slightly. I quickly got in the car, cranked the heat up and made a mad dash to the animal shelter. There they took it in, wrapped it in a blanket and took it back to the cat area. I stopped by on Saturday to check if it had made it and they said it was still alive and doing better. Fast forward to today and here the kitten is in good condition and placed with a momma cat. This was truly a Christmas Miracle.

The grey and white feathers are from a native Australian Cockatiel parrot.

The green and blue feathers belong to a South American Quaker parrot.

The EP5 Olympus camera is better for this type of photography as it has an anti aliasing filter if you want to avoid the moiré effect with the fine details of the feathers.

I saw this Merlin about 40 feet out from the roadside while driving home at dusk from what has become a favorite raptoring spot and got stuck in a muddy ditch when I pulled off of the road to photograph it. The bird didn't do much of anything for the first few minutes, then got into the preflight stretching routine that seems to be more pronounced with Merlins than other raptors. After a few minutes of that, I got a takeoff directly towards me. Lots of wing blur in the shots as I had to slow down the shutter speed to keep the iso at a level that might give me some usable shots after running them through Topaz AI, but overall I'm fairly happy with it considering the conditions. I got pulled out of the muck by a local rancher after. This has been the year of the Merlin for me - I've seen and photographed more of them than I have in my entire life previous to this year, and have gained a massive respect for these fierce little falcons.
