The mercury hit minus forty degrees this morning, which is about ten degrees warmer than the coldest temperatures I've experienced in the Yukon. Nevertheless, it is still in the "deep cold" category, so it seemed a good opportunity for an early morning walk. Naturally, I took a camera, and a tripod to see what I could find. There was ice fog everywhere, and things were looking especially wintery. When I came back in the house, my camera immediately went white with frost, so I had to wait a half hour or so before I could download any photos to the computer for processing. Still, I got a few interesting shots. This one shows a quiet Whitehorse Street waking up for the day ahead.

I am spending some time here in San Deigo and it was 82 degrees today. I took this picture in -11 on the Grand Mesa, Colorado prior to the sunrising. What a difference 1000 miles can make.

I take care of stray cats, please don't abandon them anymore or throw them out the window, these poor animals are part of the family, they suffer, they feel hunger, thirst, pain and loneliness, they are faithful to us until death. I am not asking for charity for them but a click or a kind word can mark the history of your solidarity ! Look at them how beautiful and affectionate they are. Thanks for them !
Minus Two
I had high hopes for this morning, unfortunately with children involved things don't always go to plan.
There was some lovely pastel shades in the sky pre-dawn, but I missed it all and only had time to dash to the river at the end of the road before the sun came up.
To be fair, the frost wasn't as thick as forecast and there wasn't any yummy mist either so the quest for the perfect frosty image goes on... :)
Typically this west facing side of the Golden Gate Bridge is inaccessible due to water height. Minus tides this week really open up Marshall's Beach so one can walk right up to this massive steel & concrete structure. Fun shoot with Alvin Tenpo .

i can't believe there's 5 days until christmas.
but aside from that, i'd like to say i hope everyone, whatever your relgion and whatever you celebrate, had/has a most terrific holiday this year.
and aside from that even more, is anyone like freaked out that it's less than two weeks until we're in 2011? like, in my mind 2010 has hardly begun. and now we're getting ready to pop open champaign (or sparkling apple cider for us yougins) and watch a ball drop celebrating that another 365 days has come and gone.
