Headed out to El Dorado Canyon Nevada the day after a rain storm. Pulled over off the freeway at the not so dry El Dorado Dry Lake bed. I love the landscape and clouds reflected in the not very deep water. black and white
O Light, glorious light! This is the moment that we, as artists and photographers, have been looking fore, since the dawn of time. Moments when heaven, earth and the man made come together, in perfect harmony. I can't take all the credit for this photo, God had a hand. I was shooting the sun setting over Black Canyon, and I saw the light reflecting of the windshield of this old rusted out car. I through a flash, on a remote, inside, and snapped of some photos. Hope you like it as much as I do.

Desert sunsets are not like sunsets over the ocean. The Mojave doesn't have the cloud cover, most of the time. But they are beautiful, in their own way. I love this old Chevy car.

The decaying wagon and pickup truck are among the many artifacts still remaining in this abandoned mining town.
Bodie California, north of Mono Lake, is a gold-mining ghost town that once had a population of ~10,000. The small fraction of the town that survives, is now a California State Historic Park preserved in a state of "arrested decay". Reportedly, it is essentially the way it was left when the gold boom went bust. Today, other than the occasional ghosts and several park rangers who live on site the town is deserted.

Gold Point, Nevada is a well preserved ghost town in Esmeralda County, Nevada. The community was named after the local gold-mining industry. Gold Point is the southern terminus of Nevada State Route 774
It was a very cold, windy and spooky day to be in a ghost town.

Found in an old home in the mining town of Irontown, CO. I have always been fascinated with peeling layers of paper found in old abandoned buildings. With the passage of time these layers tell a story of their own.
I love this old piano rotting next to this old corrugated steel shed and surrounded by Cholla Cactus and the cold dark night of the Mojave desert. Wonder who would play this fading instrument, to their friends and family. What story would it tell us, if we had the courage to ask, this haunted voice of music.

The last shot from Bodie. This church shot took several exposures to get right. I shot this at ISO 50 in order to give me enough time to run to the back of the church and light the inside with my LED. But there were so many other people around that I had to take multiple exposures to be able to mask them out.

Camera-shooting into one window and through another to this lovely view of an old outhouse. But it's not just any outhouse; it's in Bodie State Historic Park. Having fun with reflections and through-views in that old ghost town!
In this ghost town with the snow coming in, light changing, you could hear the voices from the past. Lots of spiritual energy.
Bisbee, Arizona, is a historic copper mining town in the Mule Mountains of southeastern Arizona, at over 5,300 feet elevation—the southernmost mile-high city in the U.S.
Once dubbed the "Queen of the Copper Camps," it boomed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries with rich mineral deposits, including the famous Copper Queen Mine. Steep canyon slopes host winding streets, colorful Victorian buildings, and hundreds of staircases.
After mining declined in the 1970s, Bisbee transformed into a vibrant artist's colony and tourist destination. It preserves its National Historic District charm with galleries, quirky shops, the Bisbee Mining & Historical Museum, mine tours, and dramatic mountain views.
Its unique blend of rugged history, creative energy, and picturesque hillside setting makes it one of Arizona's most distinctive small towns.

Madrid in 1981 was a semi ghost town with old mining and railroad equipment lying around all over the place. It's still a tourist destination, but these shacks are no doubt long gone.

Bisbee curls through the Mule Mountains like a half-forgotten story, all bright paint and worn brick from its copper-boom days. Once a rough mining camp, it’s now a haven for artists, wanderers, and old souls who like their coffee strong and their history close at hand. Narrow streets climb the hillside past staircases, murals, and crooked storefronts, and in the cool of morning or the quiet of evening, you can almost hear the echo of miners’ boots where music and laughter spill out of the bars today.

Sungai Lembing is an old mining town, which once had the biggest tin mine on earth. This old red building is part of the town shophouses.

Very much a last minute decision! Yesterday I grabbed the last ticket and I am off to Røros tomorrow for a week. Just needed a break from all the builders and their mess and some good clean Norwegian air should help.
I am sorry I do not have time to comment my friends' pictures but I have a lot of organising to do before tomorrow morning.
