In 1969, under the ownership of British Leyland, the Mini was given a facelift by stylist Roy Haynes, who had previously worked for Ford. The restyled version was called the Mini Clubman, and has a squarer frontal look, using the same indicator/sidelight assembly as the Austin Maxi. Retaining the original Mini cabin and mechanics. The Mini Clubman was intended to replace the upmarket Riley and Wolseley versions.
A new model, dubbed the 1275GT, was slated as the replacement for the 998 cc Mini Cooper (the 1,275 cc Mini Cooper S continued alongside the 1275GT for two years until 1971).
The Clubman Estate replaced the Countryman and Traveller, at first the Estate featured dry suspension while the Saloon featured Hydralastic suspension.

When the Škoda Popular grew in size and price, there was need for new cheap minicar in the market. So the Sagitta was developed and tested, but in the end a simplified Popular was chosen. Only seven cars have been made with different bodies.
A rare model which was only in production for just over a year. It was the first car to feature the larger and more modern body style but retained the 197cc engine of the previous model. Being substantially heavier than the Mk D made it slow even by Bond standards, and indeed the Mk D was produced alongside it much of the time at a lower price.
Originally registered in Plymouth and in excellent condition.

Due to its economic pricing, smaller firms also took the opportunity to buy Modulos as well, most of them belonging to the construction & mechanics industry, as it allows them to quickly transport materials to any needed location with the flatbed module without using any heavy duty machinery.

Merry Christmas to all !!
This is a spot for Rutger : the Tongtian Glow minicar produced by Jiangbei Motors in Jilin City, in Jilin province.
This car was developped by Jiangbei Motors, which produced a copy of the famous old Suzuki Alto (which was officially produced in China by JV Chang'an-Suzuki and by several other companies).
This small hatchback is based on that Alto.
The Glow production moved in Hunan province when Jiangbei was purchased by Jiangnan Motors (which produced also the Alto) and was rebadged as Jiangnan "City Spirit" until 2007 when Zotye bought Jiangnan.
This car is very rare, mainly produced under Tongtian/Jiangbei badge.
I saw one in Beijing in 2014, but I spotted only the back.
I saw this one with a better situation to spot it.

I had the good fortune of being invited "backstage" at the minicar racetrack outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma one very hot summer evening a couple of years ago. I had just started to take candid/street photos, so this was a great place to practice that.
Pictured here is a Father and Son trying to work out a problem with the engine on the son's car.
I was particularly pleased with this shot, more so that many of the other action shots I managed to capture. That seemed odd to me at the time, that I would prefer this one from the evening, but in hindsight I believe I was captured by the intimate familial moment spanning generations.
Shot on the Sony frame with a Rokkor-X 2/50mm adapted.

The Bond Minicar was built in its various forms by Sharps Commercials Ltd., renamed Bond Cars Ltd. based in Preston, between 1949-66. The basic concept for the minicar was derived from a prototype built by Lawrence "Lawrie" Bond, who had worked as an aeronautical designer for the Blackburn Aircraft Company. Sharp's Commercials was a company contracted by the Ministry of Supply to rebuild military vehicles, immeadiatly post war and seeing their military contracts were coming to a close, Bond approached the Managing Director of Sharp's, Lt. Col. Charles Reginald 'Reg' Gray, and the two reached an amenable agreement for the manufacture of the Minicar.
OWNERS NOTES
These small cars now known as Microcars were extremely popular in the 1950s and into the 60s, though they evolved considerably, as a cheap mode of transport for the masses. The cars were bodies were handmade of aluminium to a design by Lawrie Bond. Power comes from a single cylinder Villiers motorcycle engine, mounted on the front wheel. Weighing only 420lbs it is suprisingly nippy and withn a following wind will reach 50mph.Bonds were advertised as the Worlds most economical car with claims of 100mpg, however no present owner has ever enjoyed this much economy, this one however will do 80mpg if we are lucky. Contrary to popular opion no Bond ever had to be kickstarted by climbing under the bonnet. All Bonds had either a hand pull starter (connected to a kickstart) on early models as this example has, or an electric Dynastart unit mounted on the engine crackshaft on later models. The kickstart remained for emergencies. Bond made an electric start converter for the early cars , as fitted here, a standard Lucas starter motor connected via pulley to the crankshaft using an idler pulley. In their day they were used widely, and not just as runabouts, it is recorded that a gentleman by the name of Claude Tipper took his around Italy into Eastern Europe and back by way of Norway (with his wife as passenger). Today (2017) they are extremely rare, of the 1400 or so Type Bs manufactured, only 8 are known to exist Worldwide .

Designed by Dante Giacosa to meet the huge demand for a small simple economy car. Despite its size the Fiat 500 proved remarkably popular in its home market and throughout Europe.
First launched in 1957 as the Nuova, with a 479cc engine, and a later Sporty version with a 499cc. With suicide doors and a canvass roof which folded all the way back to the rear of the vehicle.
The Nuova was replaced in 1960-65 by the D, which looked very simular, but now powered as standard by the 499cc engine, now producing 17bhp, and the canvas roof no longer folding all the way back though it was also available as the "Transformable" with the same roof as the Nuova. The D also retained the suicide doors.
The D was replaced by the F (1965-73) the F featuring conventional front hinged doors. Between 1969 and 1972 the F was sold alongside the Lusso model as a cheaper "base model" alternative. While the F and L are mechanically very similar, the key differences are the bumpers (the L has an extra chrome nudge bar) and the interior (the F interior is nearly identical to the original 1957 design while the L sports a much more modern look).
The L or Lusso (1968-72) with the new bumper and nudge bar also had a redesigned more modern inteior.
The final incarnation came with the R or Rinnovata (1972-75) . It had a larger 594 cc engine, designed by Abarth, giving it a more usable power rating of 23 bhp, and came with a full synchromesh gearbox. The floor-pan which was from either the L or the newer 126 and the model acted as stop gap, while awaiting the launch of the 126. It was also more comfortable, but more simply trimmed and equipped than before
