A chill that seems to freeze the light...
The temperature was somewhere between -3 and -6. The light was filtered by the frozen vapours in the air.

"Imagine if you could dream 75 years of time in one night."

So then…
Let’s suppose that you were able, every night, to dream any dream you wanted to dream. And you could, for example, have the power within one night to dream 75 years of time. Or any length of time you wanted to have.
And you would, naturally, as you began on this adventure of dreams, fulfill all your wishes. You would have every kind of pleasure.
And after several nights of seventy-five years of total pleasure each you would say, “Well, that was pretty great! But now let’s have a surprise.”
“Let’s have a dream which isn’t under control. Where something is going to happen to me but I don’t know what it’s going to be.”
And you would dig that, and come out of that and say, “Wow, that was a close shave, wasn’t it?”
Then you would get more and more adventurous.
And you would make further and further gambles as to what you would dream.
And finally, you would dream where you are now.
"You didn't come into this world. You came out of it, like a wave from the ocean. You are not a stranger here."

I just started a book called "Blue Mind" by Wallace J. Nichols. It's about our connection to water, the way we are drawn to it, soothed and enchanted by it, and what the scientific research has to say about it. I'm still reading it, but so far so good. I am definitely taking note on how many of my personal behaviors and thoughts have been influenced by water, whether frozen in a glacier, reflecting in a lake, flowing in a waterfall, or caressing a shore. I think for me, water can be conducive to a state of mindfullness, or meditation, bringing the mind and body closer to the same moment at the same time. I'm curious to see what the research says.
Side note, this is my dad, on one of our many trips to the Oregon coast together. We've gone as a family almost yearly to bi-yearly my whole life. It is almost his birthday. Happy birthday, Dad!

"Was there ever a time when you felt suddenly alive? It was like the doors of the world opened for a minute and you could see directly into life. You were able to touch life directly and were not lost in your fears and worries.
This experience may not have been during a big event ; it may have been while walking in the woods or talking with a friend. All of a sudden you felt alive, awake. This quality of waking up or penetrating into life, we could call mindfulness. Mindfullness simply means being aware, being present. "
Soren Gordhamer
As I'm preparing for our move, I'm coming across alot of things I had forgotten about but the instant I look and feel them, I'm present to the moment they were important to me. I can enter a past time that was maybe good or bad or indifferent. It's really quite an emotional experience.
Legend has it that a hunter died on this very spot after chasing a deer over the cliff edge during a thunderstorm. The next morning his concerned mother set out to look for him and sees his body from the clifftop. Unable to bear the pain, she instantly throws herself into the gorge and falls with a desperate cry of anguish. Many say that if you sit in the gorge on a stormy night, those cries can still be heard. This tale gives the name of this spot – ‘The Wailing Widows Falls’.

Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we're doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what's going on around us.

When You listen to the others point of view, give them time to explain, then allow them to hear you out - you create something of the most valuuable things in life - a dialogue, which is much more valid and important than trying to force your view onto others. It does not matter who is right or who is wrong if there is no dialogue - power lays in the hands of those willing to debate with humble tones, huumiility, an interest ear into differences and respectful behaviour - Too often these days people are more interested in getting their point across instead of listening to those they disagree with, how about listen truly listen to what others say and think, maybe you will learn something new, and at the very least you will learn to know that person better.. Wars begin by hating each other based on not believing in the same things.. peace start when people start to listen to their disagreements allowing a world where everyone has space, those who believe one thing and those who believe another thing, the most important is to be mindfull of eachother and each others need. take those ear buds out of your ear and smile to the person who cross your path.. Maybe its the only kind gesture they are given that day. Dont scream to make your view heard, speak with soft tones, an facts learned from actual real facts, social media hardly ever poses the truth, how about that old rule in schoool - if you find evidence of your view in 5 different places ( books, Museums, proper sites known to be factual and not social media etc - your probably onto something) and be kind.. Kindness is free, its giving and it is reciving. Kindness is a gift, and the best gifts are given and seeing the happiness in the reciever.
Wishing each one of you a preciious Autumn of new knowledge, building bridges and perhaps learn to understand something new..

Mindfulness, for this week’s theme, its so easy to forget amongst our daily chaotic lives to remember some time out and being mindful, angels always make me mindful of the spirit world, I am always mindful of the impermanence of everything except change….Happy Flickr Friday, and Happy mindful days!
