Haver, CO - On my way home from a photoshoot when a storm rolled in, and I took the opportunity to take a few shots.

With the wind ripping through the valley along with the dark clouds swirling about and the sun peeking through the gaps, it made for a fantastic journey for the senses and the mind in awe.

This was inspired by this week's Flickr Friday theme, #Mindfullness

Greenland - Sisimiut

Sisimiut is the second large town of Greenland, with appr. 5600 inhabitants. And we are still 100 km north of the polar circle

Greenlanders main employment income is by fishing. Surpricingly mostly by open boats, or small fisherboats.

Often only one fisherman, and his/her boat and the fish. A world of mindfullness

With it being well-being week I'd like to share with you a typical spot I would go to to gather my mind and switch off to everyday stresses. We all need somewhere to go in private so that we can process all the issues that we deal with. The sound of the water helps to drain away the crap from us.

The zen bull and his mindfullness pond (description "borrowed" from a fellow photographer). I have a favorite spot I love to go and walk early in the morning, particularly in the late summer, early fall while the moose rut is going on. On this particular morning, I actually walked in the opposite direction of this location and was headed back to my vehicle to get ready for work when something told me I needed to continue on and check this spot. I am so glad I did because as I approached this small pond, I could hear antlers thrashing in the brush nearby and just moments later, this beautiful guy emerged from the willows and walked right out into the pond, stopping periodically to take a drink and just stand there, like he was meditating. I have since spent many a mornings with this beautiful bull. Definitely one of the highlights of my year.

Have a great weekend!!!

I made this a couple of hours ago on my lunch break. The weather outside was awful and there were some lovely dark clouds moving quickly across the sky.

As a lover of the elements, I put on my mac and drove to Godrevy beach. I had intended to use the lighthouse as my main subject, but when I arrived the light was much nicer facing in the opposite direction. The rocks made for a great wide angle subject with the water channels leading the eye through towards the dramatic clouds above.

The cold tones and light toward Gwithian was beautifully soft and I managed to make the most of the foreground detail by using my PolarPro CPL. I shot several frames and focus stacked them to achieve the sharpness throughout. I had a frame with less distortion (raindrops on the lens) but this one felt more real and I feel it serves well as a metanym for my headspace right now.

I’ve been having a stressful couple of weeks recently and alongside this, I’ve found little time to get out and shoot. Photography often serves me well as a means of therapy. This was just what I needed and just getting out for an hour or so felt like a weight off my shoulders and provided much needed head space.

Time to dry off my trainers…

We all need to take the time to get away from the repetition that rules our daily lives. Sometimes its as easy as a walk in the wilderness that will trigger our escape from the drone of patterned existence.

Vignettes of Cork : Beauty in the Ordinary

The start of a wickedly hot day on holiday in Thassos, it is early morning and already a haze is growing, soon the mountains will not be visible.

Amongst the light and shadow,

A moment for introspection,

Mindful, my inner harmony returns

A chill that seems to freeze the light...

The temperature was somewhere between -3 and -6. The light was filtered by the frozen vapours in the air.
