INTELLIGENT WHEELS

Silicon Valley is infiltrating the transportation sector faster than anyone thought possible only a few years ago. New software-based technologies such as advanced cruise control, collision avoidance systems and self-parking are leading toward the self-driving car, which will not only reduce accidents but will also make driving more efficient. Uber, which is shaking up the taxi industry, is now working with Carnegie Mellon to build self-driving cars. Automated mobility will not only reduce accidents but also will making driving more efficient. In addition, the way we use cars is changing. Car sharing services have become popular with millennials, leading some to wonder how the auto industry will be impacted by sharing instead of buying vehicles. Where are we in this race and which technologies will prevail?

Antique botanical lithograph printed by the United States Department Of Agriculture highlighting an especially promising new fruit or vegetable discovery.

This pretty lithograph series was done between the years of 1901 through 1910.. Each print measures 6" x 9" overall and they're all in gorgeous condition. These vintage prints are especially nice framed and displayed in an old fashioned kitchen.

Millennial window by Michael D. Stokes, depicting the various centres of Christian worship in the parish of Keyworth.

St Mary Magdalene's at Keyworth is distinguished by its unusual 15th century west tower, crowned with an octagonal lantern stage giving it a distinctive and most attractive form. The rest of the building mostly dates from the preceding century and consists of chancel and nave flanked by aisles (that on the south side curiously short, extending no farther eastwards than the south porch).

The interior has an interesting mix of windows with glass from across the modern era. It is light and attractively furnished with some good early 20th century fittings.

This was my second visit here but the first time I'd found it open. There was some sort of festival going on so it was difficult to look around and get photos as it was very busy with crowds gathering mostly at the west end of the nave. I snuk in and did what I could virtually unnoticed.

I'm not sure what normal opening arrangements are here, I think it is probably normally kept locked (certainly was on my first visit) but may have limited opening at select times.

Spending time discussing the preferences of different Generations with Jessie Newburn, has sensitized me to generationally targeted marketing messages. This package design is clearly directed at millennials (AKA Gen Y), who are supposedly distinguished by their focus on themselves and their generation. Thus the young pair taking their own photo, having the time of their lives.

The buildings in the background are done in the style of 80's xerox art. How does that fit in?

Cloud Gate is a public sculpture by British artist Anish Kapoor. It is the centerpiece of the AT&T Plaza in Millennium Park within the Loop community area of Chicago, Illinois, and is located on top of Park Grill and adjacent to the Chase Promenade. The sculpture was constructed between 2004 and 2006 and was temporarily unveiled in the summer of 2004. Nicknamed "The Bean" because of its legume-like shape, its exterior consists of 168 highly polished stainless steel plates. It is 33 feet by 66 feet by 42 feet (10 m × 20 m × 13 m), and weighs 110 short tons (99.8 t; 98.2 long tons). The sculpture and the plaza are sometimes referred to jointly as "Cloud Gate on the AT&T Plaza" or "Cloud Gate on AT&T Plaza".

Cloud Gate has become a very popular sculpture that is known worldwide. Inspired by liquid mercury, the sculpture's exterior reflects and transforms the city's skyline. Visitors are able to walk around and under Cloud Gate's arch, which is 12 feet (3.7 m) high. On the underside of the sculpture is the omphalos, a concave chamber that warps and multiplies reflections. The sculpture builds upon many of Kapoor's artistic themes, although many tourists simply view the sculpture and its unique reflective properties as a photo-taking opportunity.
