USC Annenberg’s Center on Communication Leadership & Policy (CCLP) presented a conversation on the 2012 elections featuring CCLP senior fellow Morley Winograd and Mike Hais, co-authors of Millennial Momentum: How a new generation is remaking America. From the publisher: “In Millennial Momentum, Winograd and Hais investigate how the beliefs and practices of the Millennials are transforming other areas of American culture, from education to entertainment, from the workplace to the home, and from business to politics and government … They also illustrate why this generation's unique blend of civic idealism and savvy pragmatism will enable us to overcome the internal culture wars and institutional malaise currently plaguing the country.” CCLP director Geoffrey Cowan moderated the discussion.

More and more millennials are taking to the streets to demand action on climate change, but not action on America’s national debt and deficits — another major long-term problem that carries enormous risks to future generations. What’s behind the difference in millennial attitudes towards these two threats, and how do we get younger generations of Americans to demand long-term fiscal solvency?

On October 22, the Brookings Institution and the Millennial Action Project (MAP) explored this paradox by reviewing generational differences in attitudes to the challenges of climate change and national debt and deficits. Both discussed with scholars and Millennial members of congress survey evidence and techniques for engaging millennials on major issues, and the lessons for policymakers, journalists, and others seeking to generate support among younger Americans for tackling big, long-term problems.

St Andrew's at Foxton, Leicestershire, the first church of a crawl on Heritage Saturday (the best time to visit Leicestershire as many churches are normally locked, though this one is normally open).

Highlights here include a fine Norman font, a striking Millennium window and a few roof carvings (for those with a longer lens).

Millennial village sign at Blythburgh, standing immediately east of the churchyard and adorned with an angel (based on the medieval roof carvings in the church).

Of all the churches I planned to see on this excursion this was the one that I was the most excited about, not only is Blythburgh one of Suffolk's finest but among the best and grandest parish churches in the country, all the more surprising in this rural location. I'd known about it for decades, so it was most satisfying to finally get to see it for myself.

The most impressive feature is the roof, retaining much of its original painted decoration and angel figures down the centre, also retaining much colour. This feature was familiar to me from so many photos in books, but in finally seeing it with my own eyes it lost none of its impact. It extends almost the full length of the building as there is little structural division between nave and chancel.

This is a church to spend some time in and soak up its special atmosphere. Being on a bit of a mission that day I didn't have time to sit peacefully as one should, but it was the longest stop on my itinerary, and one of the most rewarding, I'd happily return.

This is one of the 'must see' churches of Suffolk and is always open and welcoming by day accordingly. For the third time that day I met a couple doing a similar excursion to me and we briefly chatted about what a joy it is to visit, I urge others to do likewise.

Snapchat is now the third most popular social app among millennials, according to a recent report by comScore which finds that Snapchat has 32.9% penetration on these young users’ mobile phones, trailing only Instagram (43.1%) and Facebook (75.6%). That means the app is more popular than Twitter, Pinterest, Vine, Google+ or Tumblr among the millennial demographic, which comScore… Read More

The New Superfood for Millennials: Pulses

Pulses are setting the trend in the food industry. From pistachio, quinoa and kale, pulses are now becoming more popular. It is very healthy and versatile that you can eat and/or mix it with our usual favorite dishes - and that is exactly what we experienced during our 2-day trip in Bangkok where we were treated to Pulse-ating food feast. www.ruthdelacruz.com/2018/01/superfood-pulses.html

Millennial window by Michael D. Stokes, depicting the various centres of Christian worship in the parish of Keyworth.

St Mary Magdalene's at Keyworth is distinguished by its unusual 15th century west tower, crowned with an octagonal lantern stage giving it a distinctive and most attractive form. The rest of the building mostly dates from the preceding century and consists of chancel and nave flanked by aisles (that on the south side curiously short, extending no farther eastwards than the south porch).

The interior has an interesting mix of windows with glass from across the modern era. It is light and attractively furnished with some good early 20th century fittings.

This was my second visit here but the first time I'd found it open. There was some sort of festival going on so it was difficult to look around and get photos as it was very busy with crowds gathering mostly at the west end of the nave. I snuk in and did what I could virtually unnoticed.

I'm not sure what normal opening arrangements are here, I think it is probably normally kept locked (certainly was on my first visit) but may have limited opening at select times.
