So I took Basil to Santa Cruz yesterday where there seemed to be a lot of

other Bay Area folk coming down to let their dogs run on the beaches.

Basil the Boxer met many many different breeds and was then completely

Rules here in the Bay Area are strict and stupid. So much for this place

being liberal! I was fined 300 bucks for Basil the Boxer being off leash

in an area that was clearly marked as okay for dogs being off leash.

People are getting 300 dollar tickets for dropping people off at a BART

station in Oakland. Where does it all lead? On a brighter note, I have a

podcast where I can complain about this stuff. Why don't you complain with

me? Together we can make the Bay Area liberal again.

VH1's "I Love the 80's" was a show I often watched back when I had cable.

Well, I don't have it now, but I did have access to cable over the past

couple of days and I watched the newly minted "I Loved the 2000's." First

off, I have called it and will forever call that decade THE OH's. Second,

as funny as that show can be, they rely a bit much on praising every single

rap song and destroying ever single adult contemporary song. If the song

ever played on a station with John Tesh on it, it deserves to be

atom-bombed. Though part of me agrees with that I think they lay waste to

some decent tunes. Oh, by the way, "I Hate the VH1." Is that a show?

I didn't get to see Sam Smith perform at the Grammy's. I'm glad he won,

even though it's like a replay of Adele winning a couple years ago. She

was inspired to write most of the songs off "21" after a big break-up, and

she, just like Sam, thanked the man who broke her heart for inspiring songs

like "Rolling In the Deep" and "Someone Like You." She also swept the

Grammy's that year. Oh yeah, and they're both British. They're both very

soulful. Holy s#*$! Are they the same person? Did Adele release a new

album and win more Grammy's without us noticing?

Wow. My trial last week was ridiculous. By putting Basil the boxer back

on his leash when the police were there that was considered an admission of

guilt. It implies that I knew he should have been on his leash the whole

time. Yet the judge also conceded that Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline is a

very confusing park in regards to the signs that tell you whether you can

have a dog off leash. All I know is Fremont Hall of Justice wanted their

280 dollars and they did anything to get it. Hope they can pay to have

their floors cleaned now.

there like 5 minutes late walking Basil the Boxer. I did get to see a

bunch of people walking away with balloons. I guess balloons were

So tired of the 24 hour news channels. AND I'm tired of the shows that

poke fun at them. Of course the 24 hour news channels are a sham. Anyone

that still watches them enjoy wasting their lives. Of course the network

news channels are flush with the Koch Brothers money and are just feeding

you one-sided lies. Why do I need to watch a comedy show about that? It

just depresses me...while it makes me laugh. I can't handle that roller

coaster anymore. What were we talking about?

What the heck?!? I've caught poison oak again! This time it's a little bit

on my left arm. Oh, the perils of living in the East Bay and going hiking

with your dog. The trick is not to scratch it because once you do it

explodes and gets the rest of your skin irritated. I usually try to ignore

it till it goes away. At some point I'll develop a tolerance but till then

I'm fighting the urge to itch. What fun.

So Zoey Chase is on the very famous podcast Planet Money and she has the

CRAZIEST ACCENT! I even commented about this on facebook and I got a

response! Yeah, I actually got a response! Some people get a response on

facebook if all they say is "I think I'll eat eggs today." I NEVER GET

ANYTHING! I get bupkus. Nobody likes to comment on my posts but do I

care? OF COURSE NOT! Sorry I didn't bring you a podcast on Sunday or

Monday. After the last show where I was poisoned by the Brewmaster and his

friend The DisFeathered Duck I had to take a few days off. I love you.

I haven't been to a "haunted house theme park attraction local actors

dressed in scary make up and yelling at you" thingy in a long time. I went

this past Saturday to one in Pleasanton near me hear in PodCastro Valley.

It was a hoot! Or maybe it was a boooooo....t? The best part was at the

end of one of the haunted houses (there were six) there was a small

flashlight they give you and I come around a corner and a small woman in

scary clothes and make up yells at me "GIVE ME YOUR FLASHLIGHT!" That

scared and amused me. So enjoyable.

Christopher Walken has been in so many movies. Here are two Christmas

movies I can think of: Catch Me If You Can and Batman Returns. Okay,

neither one of those would seem to be Christmas movies, but the Christmas

spirit oddly pops up in both. Catch Me If You Can is such a great film,

one of my favorite Speilberg movies. So, is Christopher Walken really

Santa? And when he flies up in space on his sleigh does he dig all the

Christmas lights he can see? One can only wonder.

Today it's the return of the much loved feature MATTHEWS NEWS where we look

at some interesting recent news stories, plus we hear from Madame

Rootabega, Valentino, and Bison Bentley! And did you know about Slacker?

No, not the 1991 movie with absolutely nobody memorable in it. The music

website. Didn't think so.

Here in the Bay Area you can have locally grown vegetables put in a big

paper bag (or canvas bag if you're more eco-friendly) and given to you

every week for 11 bucks. Sound like a great idea? Yeah, for maybe the

first month, but invariably EVERYONE picks up the bag and just lets all the

veggies rot on their kitchen counter for a week which is exactly what

happened to me. I don't do the service, but my eco-minded roommate does.

I think I've maybe seen him actually use one or two veggies over the past 3

months he's done it. So just like any subscriber service the whole thing's

a sham. Damn sustainable, green, organic, eco-friendly, and locally grown

farmers wasting all that food! Now if they grew Christmas sugar cookies...

Today I have the very creative music producer named ANTHONY VERNON, plus we

buying Office Depot? What was wrong with Office Max, Staples? You gotta

thing against plus size offices?

So a friend of mine recently spent two hours with me and the entire time he

talked about himself. Correction, he talked about himself and lambasted my

website and podcast. He even tore apart the name of my show. You know how

fragile I am and how put a lot of myself into my podcast. It's really

personal, so getting attacked like this no matter how hard I try always

makes it feel like it's a personal attack. Heck, I spend money on this

dang thing! Word to the wise: If you feel the need to criticize and to

tear down remember it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to attempt to build back up.

Otherwise you are a hater and a hater's gonna hate hate hate hate hate and

that's about it.

So I had a little technical difficulty today that really irks me. I

accidentally recorded over one of the first part of today's INTO AN

INTERVIEW! This is the first time I've done this, hopefully it's the last

time. Oh, and I couldn't get it back because I didn't realize I had done

it till later when all access to the original file was gone. What have I

learned today? Always back up everything! Yes, basically this situation

taught me to be a pack rat.

I had two tacos from Jack in the Box today. It was the last of a free gift

certificates I got from going to a San Jose Earthquakes soccer game a

couple weeks ago. They scored a couple times in the last part of the game

so they give out these certificates when that happens. It made me wonder,

Why the hell do they call a hamburger fast food place Jack in the Box? The

answer may surprise you. Or not. All will be revealed on this show, but

please keep the ice buckets away. There's a drought going on.

My Labor Day Weekend has begun in an interesting way. We look at that and

Basil and I went on our daily walk and found ourselves in Carlos Bee Park.

Kinda scary. It could be a really nice park but with budget cuts you know

that's going to be difficult right now. It has lots of trees and a little

creek running through it that has water even though it's June. Cutting

through the park you find yourself practically in Downtown Hayward.

Hayward it trying to revitalize this section right now and is having some

success. It would be interesting to see a revitalized Carlos Bee Park.

Maybe that's down at the bottom of the list. It's amazing in this area

surrounding PodCastro Valley what gets completely run down and what still

looks to be in tip top shape. The term "hit and miss" comes to mind and

that's definitely true for many of the East Bay cities. Some sections,

however, have come quite an impressive way!
