This photo of Manhattanโs skyline was taken from Long Island on East Riverโs right (eastern) bank.
The viewpoint, being distant and across East River, broadened the composition alternatives to shoot Manhattanโs beautiful skyline.

This grand old home was originally built in 1887 by Paul Roulet, who was a French instructor at nearby Drury College. You can see his name on the sign in the front yard, along with that of the last buyer, Sally Plank. This midtown neighborhood is of particular interest to me, my husband and one grandson because we all lived here on the โ40 acresโ and attended what is now Drury University.
Midtown Manhattan is the central portion of the New York City borough of Manhattan and serves as the city's primary central business district. Midtown is home to some of the city's most prominent buildings, including the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, the Hudson Yards Redevelopment Project, the headquarters of the United Nations, Grand Central Terminal, and Rockefeller Center, as well as several prominent tourist destinations including Broadway, Times Square, and Koreatown. Penn Station in Midtown Manhattan is the busiest transportation hub in the Western Hemisphere.

This one was particularly difficult to compose and capture for a number of reasons. Firstly, the image was captured through a thick shield of glass with plenty of glare to spare. Also, given the speed of the setting sun and the confined space in which I was located (none of the doors leading outside were accessible), I had very few options for mobility.
In such situations, as many of you know, you must resolve to use your best judgment and make do with the circumstances at your disposal.

Revisiting the globe in Columbus circle to get a shot not shrouded in silhouette. Was hoping for some streaky clouds in the background with the long exposure, but with the way it was grey and overcast today in the city I'll settle for clear blue skies.

* I felt terrible for this raccoon. It didn't look well. A woman was just behind it and had called animal services to ensure help would be given.
