The first thing we noticed upon entering the cab was that there was no driver. Before we could mull this over though, the doors slammed and the cab magically lifted off the ground. Up, up, and away we went soaring over green valleys and fields. All we could do was hope that this auto pilot cab knew our direction home. I noticed a button near my hand that said "for a faster ride, push button." I felt there was nothing to lose so I gave it a push.

...where the silence is so thick you can taste it. It's not for everyone but there is a beauty in it that speaks to the soul, if you're not afraid to listen. Actually, we could use a few moments of silence here in the Foothills. Last night the rain was torrential while the wind blew a hooley. Not great for sleeping. Stay safe out there everyone.

Confronted with two additional doors we stepped through the left door and found ourselves in front of another massive oak. A stout wooden door was visible between the tree's massive root system. There were only two choices now--to open the door or to walk away and seek an exit elsewhere. We decided to go with the door. Unfortunately, try as we might, we could not open the door. It appeared to be locked from the inside. So what you do when you confront a locked door? Knock on it and see who opens it seemed the only sensible solution.

Henrietta Brood is a past recipient of the raven's feather. On the night she received the ravenβs feather, Henrietta saw the townβs shadow self β a ghostlike double of Somewhereville, existing in perfect parallel. Henrietta realized that this shadow town was not separate β it was the original. She now spends her evenings starring out the window hoping that the Somewhereville she once knew will return.

We continued our journey up the river canyon until we reached a rocky spot in the river. Beyond it the passage was blocked by a humongous fiery monster who was part of the canyon walls. His breath was so hot that the entire passage was engulfed in flame. It was time to test Qwim Qwizzle's potion. I opened the bottle and poured it in the water. It created a small ripple that gradually widened until it reached the monster's mouth. This was followed by a large explosion. Water and mist shot high into the air. When it cleared the flames were extinguished. Our passage was clear.

When the film about the Night of the Raven was released, Somewhereville became less of a quiet, odd little city and more of a stage set for the curious, the obsessed, and the exploitative. The streets filled with tour buses, souvenir carts, and amateur ghost-hunters. The locals felt suffocated. Past recipients who had managed to live quietly were suddenly exposed, their names passed around on fan forums. Curious fans knocked on their doors at night, leaving little black feathers on porches. Some recipients moved away entirely; others became reclusive. This took a heavy and lasting toll on the recipients who decided to stay. Shown above is a crowd of concerned residents gathered outside the offices of The Somewhereville Ledger & Lantern to protest the newspaper's complicity in the events.

Having found the oaken door we were excited and quickly pulled it open. It moved quite easily on its well oiled hinges. As the door creaked open we were confronted with an unexpected sight--three more doors within the roots of an ancient oak. It was clear that we would have to choose wisely here or perhaps find ourselves in a land that was dark and foreboding. After a lot of discussion we decided on door number three on the far right. It seemed to be made of gold and we felt it might be our best choice out of this land of gold.
