I recently found out you can microwave an ear of corn, with the husk and silk, for 3 minutes and it turns out perfect!?

If you microwave it for 5 minutes, you get popcorn!

The Onda portable microwave oven is a very clever twist on an appliance that was first introduced to homes in 1955. Pre-prepared meals are placed in compatible food packages and warmed with microwaves. Specifically, the Onda is slid on to the packaging and the aluminum contained within the interior of the handheld device creates a circuit connection when the seal of the packaging is broken. Paper batteries are used to produce energy, making the Onda both smart and eco-friendly. The Onda also comes in a range of different colors for personal preference.

Shot through the door of the microwave oven. Manual focused. The poor lighting, metal screen in the door, moving turntable, and multiple layers of optically terrible glass didn't help, but I like how it turned out.

Believe it or not, this is the microwave mug cake, all dressed up with chocolate sour cream frosting.
This is my third attempt at the microwave mug cake. It wasn't so bad this time, but I'd say that if you have the ingredients and the time to make this cake as I have made it, then you may as well just make cake the real way - in the OVEN!

Microwave tower at the top of Black Mountain. I rode my bike to the top intending to photograph the moonrise (largest moon of the year 1/10/09). All my painstakingly tripodded and aligned panoramas ended up sucking, but I thought this picture of the microwave tower looked neat. The colors of the sunset are reflected on the face of each dish.
San Diegans: for those of you closer to the coast, look East towards Poway. This is the large conspicuous tower you see on the horizon.
As you can see the previous owners just had a standard microwave hung above our stove. We wanted to have a real microwave hood. So the project began.
