Front, middle and hind legs of the water beetle, Agabus guttatus. The front and middle legs have large tibial spurs, as they adapted for walking, as compared with the more streamlined hind legs better adapted for swimming. Unlike some water beetles, they do not have very obvious swimming hairs. From a microscope slide made by D T Richardson, in 1994.
Using a copy stand for vertical support and alignment, and a hobby stage for XY movement.
Also shows the hardware store petri dish holder.
Woodinville Whiskey Rye. Approx. 40X I accidentally put a lot on this slide, and it wound up being a happy accident.
Camera
Immediately above the oculars is a shutter, that in one position directs the light beam through the oculars, or in the other position, directs it to the camera mounted on top. As with the camera on top of it, it doesn't really work.
