The only thing that does not work in this microscope, is the optics... Although LEGO has produced a magnifying glass brick, I never even took an attempt at getting something between a 20- and 600-fold magnification from them...
This is a run-of-the-mill inverted microscope; an instrument you will find on any laboratory where tissue cultures are handled. It is inverted because with a normal microscope one looks down on the specimen. An inverted microscope allows the user to look from below the sample. With the thick dishes, flasks and plates used for tissue culture, and with a volume of nutrients on top of it, a lense can come a lot closer to the specimen from below! Getting closer, means higher magnifications are possible.

Les Actinopodes sont des organismes unicellulaires qui forment un embranchement d’organismes aquatiques à symétrie généralement sphérique. Une bonne part d’entre eux possède des squelettes externes calcaires ou siliceux, hérissés de fins pseudopodes (filopodes et axopodes) rayonnants. Leur diamètre est de 40 à 200 microns. Ce sont de prédateurs capables de capturer le plancton grâce à des substances adhésives présentes sur leurs axopodes.

Some time ago I bought this cheap noname Microscope objective at a flea market I think I paid 20 SEK (about 3 USD) for it.
It's a finite 10X Microscope objective with a intended tube lenght of 160mm and na 0,25.

I have recently obtained an WWII-era research grade microscope, the Leitz Ortholux I. It was sitting in a friend's closet for a long time and the optics need a lot of alignment, centering, and some dusting love. Also, the power supply hasn't arrived, so this shot was obliquely illuminated using a dim flashlight.
This is the edge of the slide clamp spring arm seen at approximately 125x magnification. The parallel grooves are polish marks. The objective is a Leitz 10x achromat and the ocular is a Leitz Periplan GF 10x (there's a 1.25x lens in the nosepiece as well).
I just wanted to see if I could hang my camera above the trinocular camera port and get an image. The image looking down into the camera port visually is much sharper than this, so there are some serious image plane alignment issues that need to be worked out . More to come.

Absinthe C'est La Mort Microscope Slide Pendant features an image of a skeletal waiter pouring absinthe from an anti-absinthe poster from the early part of the 19th century when abolitionists were trying to get absinthe banned.
The back of the pendant features a picture of another anti-absinthe poster from the same time period. This one is of a skull and reads C'est La Mort. Translated to English it means "Absinthe is death".
My two sided pendants make versatile accessories and look great no matter which side you choose to wear. The image on each side is protected by a glass microscope slide.
Microcope slide pendant measures 3 inches tall by 1 inch wide and is enclosed by a black patina flip frame.
Pendant has been embellished with a lead free pewter skeleton key charm and a vintage pocket watch gear.
