They even had a couple of Japanese machines. And one very special one. This 1967 Mazda Cosmo S Coupe Series I was the first mass produced car with a rotary engine (one litre).

A lunar phase or Moon phase is the apparent shape of the Moon's directly sunlit portion as viewed from the Earth (because the Moon is tidally locked with the Earth, the same hemisphere is always facing the Earth). In common usage, the four major phases are the new moon, the first quarter, the full moon and the last quarter; the four minor phases are waxing crescent, waxing gibbous, waning gibbous, and waning crescent. A lunar month is the time between successive recurrences of the same phase: due to the eccentricity of the Moon's orbit, this duration is not perfectly constant but averages about 29.5 days.
The appearance of the Moon (its phase) gradually changes over a lunar month as the relative orbital positions of the Moon around Earth, and Earth around the Sun, shift. The visible side of the Moon is sunlit to varying extents, depending on the position of the Moon in its orbit, with the sunlit portion varying from 0% (at new moon) to nearly 100% (at full moon).
There are four principal (primary, or major) lunar phases: the new moon, first quarter, full moon, and last quarter (also known as third or final quarter), when the Moon's ecliptic longitude is at an angle to the Sun (as viewed from the center of the Earth) of 0°, 90°, 180°, and 270° respectively. Each of these phases appears at slightly different times at different locations on Earth, and tabulated times are therefore always geocentric (calculated for the Earth's center).
Between the principal phases are intermediate phases, during which the apparent shape of the illuminated Moon is either crescent or gibbous. On average, the intermediate phases last one-quarter of a synodic month, or 7.38 days.
The term waxing is used for an intermediate phase when the Moon's apparent shape is thickening, from new to a full moon; and waning when the shape is thinning. The duration from full moon to new moon (or new moon to full moon) varies from approximately 13 days 22+1⁄2 hours to about 15 days 14+1⁄2 hours.

This is a clever piece of construction I think. Just for starters, how would you specify the lengths and angles of those rails to the manufacturer? And then you had to to get the posts to line up with the rail brackets, which appear to have been fitted during manufacture.

Abbott Street in the Gastown district of Vancouver BC, on a wet Saturday morning.
I liked the light, and the Metropole Hotel sign. It reminds me of old film footage I saw (someone posted it on YouTube) that was taken from the front of several different streetcars as they travelled around the city circa 1910 or maybe earlier. In one sequence the streetcar went past the Metropole hotel at its original location across the street from where it is in this shot. The signs look similar. That sat well with me for some reason. BTW, it isn't a good hotel anymore, if it was back in the day. All the old hotels in this area have been converted into single room occupancy, "affordable housing" for those living below the poverty line.

This photo has been taken just outside the Shinjuku-trainstation in Tokyo. This station is one of the busiest and most important stations of Tokyo, with more than 3 million people using it on a daily basis.
According to Wikipedia this station also has about 200 entrances/exits. We were going back to our hotel that night, but unfortunately we picked the wrong exit of the station because we were a little bit of lost. The exit brought us to the side of the station where I took this shot.
So after all, this is really what you can really call a 'lucky shot'. If we picked the correct exit, then i probably never took this shot...
I wish you all a great day!
More shots from Tokyo can be found on my website in the most recent blog post: www.marceltuit.nl

This Ferrari 212 Inter Vignale Coupé, Chassis No. 0221EL, is very special for several reasons. Firstly, the Ferrari Build Sheet (Foglio de Montaggio) strongly indicates that 0221EL was ordered with competition in mind. This is emphasized by the wheelbase of 2500 mm (2600 mm for road cars) and by the tuned engine with 3 Weber DCF / 3 carburettors and 170 hp (the simple variant had only 1 single carburetor).
Secondly, while some of the Vignale Coupé designs can be a bit “wild” at times; This example has extremely beautiful and elegant Vignale design features, which are accentuated by the very special two-tone color combination of gray over beige.
Third, 0221EL has an extraordinary ownership history. Originally delivered to Swiss enthusiast Eugene Lanz on August 11, 1952 (remarkably the original FERRARI certificate of origin signed by Enzo Ferrari still exists), 0221EL was driven extremely hard in its early years. So much that in 1963 it was in such a worn condition that the owner sold 0221EL to Mr Messerli from Kaufdorf. Mr. Messerli was a salvage dealer, but he had a strong preference for the 0221EL, as well as a plan to preserve and eventually restore the car for his personal use.
Mr. Messerli never got around to his plans, and it so happened that the car was totally forgotten on his property for the incredible period of 40 years (!) until a German enthusiast turned up in 2003 and made a very substantial offer, selling Mr. Messerli the car and put an end to his lifelong dream. After a careful restoration by the German specialist Methusalem, while retaining the beautiful original interior, the 0221EL returned to its original glory.
