They even had a couple of Japanese machines. And one very special one. This 1967 Mazda Cosmo S Coupe Series I was the first mass produced car with a rotary engine (one litre).

This is a clever piece of construction I think. Just for starters, how would you specify the lengths and angles of those rails to the manufacturer? And then you had to to get the posts to line up with the rail brackets, which appear to have been fitted during manufacture.

It's not always plain sailing; sometimes you need help getting to grips with the app and hardware.

Dutch entrepreneur Frans van Haren has a classic car collection that has won prizes at prestigious national and international competitions. Since 2017, he has been presenting his impressive car collection to a wider audience in the futuristic-looking, former furniture showroom 'Metropole' in Druten, the Netherlands.
The collection includes some four hundred cars, trucks and motorcycles, making it almost the largest car museum in the Netherlands.

I liked the light, and the Metropole Hotel sign. It reminds me of old film footage I saw (someone posted it on YouTube) that was taken from the front of several different streetcars as they travelled around the city circa 1910 or maybe earlier. In one sequence the streetcar went past the Metropole hotel at its original location across the street from where it is in this shot. The signs look similar. That sat well with me for some reason. BTW, it isn't a good hotel anymore, if it was back in the day. All the old hotels in this area have been converted into single room occupancy, "affordable housing" for those living below the poverty line.

The Silva Connection
The following uplifting text was to be found on a sign next to the art installation:
"Connecting to trees ...
The main idea of this project comes from the link between Man and nature. A strong bond that can be translated simply by the fact of hugging a tree. This work forms a visible marker between the world created by Man and the natural world. It reflects the changing colours of the seasons throughout day and night.
Silva Connection consists of 128 rectangular tubes in mirror-polished stainless steel, spaced at an equal distance allowing the light to pass and creating an effect of surprise between the visitors, the work and the forest.
This work unfolds, in the shape of a snail, around a central tree. A big, strong tree that gives us so much energy. Snuggle up against it and hug it. Lean your forehead or cheek against the bark. Put your feet against the roots and close your eyes. Breathe deeply and let yourself wander away where you want to.
And before you go, don't forget to thank it.
Francois Arnawout, France
The François Arnawout Architecture agency was created in May 2015 by François Arnawout, DPLG architect who graduated from the Special Architecture School in 2008 in Paris.
François Arnawout has collaborated as agency director, project manager within renowned international architectural agencies such as: Kengo Kuma, Odile Decq, Jean Paul Viguier, on the design and construction of large public and private facilities such as the construction of the offices of the company Blue ice in Chamonix in 2016, the construction of the FRAC museum in Rennes in 2012.
The François Arnawout Architecture agency defines itself as a space for creation and experimentation on architecture and its transversalities. The agency works around a multidisciplinary team made up of architects, engineers, designers and graphic designers.
Each project is a pretext to question, redefine the programme of an urban, social and human context."

'Rather than words comes the thought of high windows:
The sun-comprehending glass,
And beyond it, the deep blue air, that shows
Nothing, and is nowhere, and is endless.'
