Two strangers encounter one another in an otherworldy waiting room at the edge of time and space.

This build should not have taken five years to finish. But here we are, I guess.

Largely inspired by the Metroid Prime series.

Big thanks to Huw from Brickset for the photography, and the folks here on Flickr and Discord for the advice, crit and kind words on various WIP photos over the years.

Based mostly off her power suit from the original NES game.

Inspired by the new 3x3 macaroni tube piece from Dreamz sets I reviewed for New Elementary. This is quite different from my usual models, being a statuesque model built for a specific pose and thus being asymmetrical by its structure.

More on Cyclopic Bricks.

Water drop clinging to a fuzzy flower.

Yeah...Really gotta start naming these things. Just another table scrap.

Maybe some kinda futuristic, metroid style thing? Who knows.

I actually had a lot of fun making this custom and I'm quite proud of it. Enjoy!

My latest build felt a bit empty without characters.

Largely inspired by the Luminoth in Metroid Prime 2.

Thanks Huw from Brickset for the photo.

Trying to pose this guy without the legs collapsing is like trying to unicycle across a tightrope made of dental floss.

This is a snow cave at Mount Rainier, Washington.

Heavily inspired by the Security Robot boss from Metroid Fusion. The body isn't as boxy, the weapons are different, and it only has 4 legs instead of 6 though.

Boba Fett? The Mandalorian? Nah, we all know the real greatest bounty hunter is Samus Aran!

Managed to use the seed part in 3 different ways, in three different colors here (dark grey in helmet air hoses, yellow in ab armor, and white in Metroid "teeth"). I'm also super pleased with how the medallion looks... I may actually keep this one built...

"Morphology: Metroid.

Energy-based parasitic predator. Leeches bioenergy from its victims.

The dominant species of planet SR388, Metroids can suck the life force out of living things. A Metroid will latch onto its prey with powerful pincers, then proceed to drain its life energy. This causes the creature to grow in size and mass. The creatures can be detached by entering Morph Ball mode and deploying a Bomb."

Team up with Samus Aran, the toughest bounty hunter in the galaxy, and help her to take the dangerous last Metroid infant out of planet SR388. Then carry it aboard her iconic gunship and take off!

Based on the classic "Metroid" videogame franchise from Nintendo, this building toy features the bounty hunter's most recognisable vessel, as well as some key elements from the entire series.

Carry the jar with the Metroid in suspended animation inside the cargo hold.

Move the Technic liftarm to drop Samus inside the gunship to restore health and ammo. Then withdraw the axle at the back to exit the gunship via the lower hatch.

Remove the windscreen to access the cockpit.

Flaps can be open to reveal some inner details.

Modify the exposed intakes to conceal them.

Includes two moveable stud shooters.

Adjust the three bottom pads to land in any surface.

Open the secret door to drop Samus as a Morph Ball.

Includes a minifigure of Samus Aran's iconic Power Suit.

Samus next mission: to become part of a new LEGO Ideas product.

She NEEDS YOU. Can you help her? Now is your turn!

Had hoarded enough orange so gave a try to Power Suit. Maybe a tad late for 30th anniversary, but I had to move and start studying in university among other things.

Samus is so pleasingly bright-coloured in contrast to many gritty video game heroes.

More in Cyclopic Bricks.

Just finished cloning a fission metroid today. Apparently this type of research has been deemed illegal and the galactic federation has classified me in the same category as Space Pirates.

Man, these things are so cute!

Charge Shot and Wave Beam. The charge shot power-up allows the user to charge beam energy into a single blast. Wave beam upgrade allows for beam weapons to pass through solid, inorganic matter.

Inspired by artwork from the Metroid series, Mitch Henry and I have created a series of beam weapon upgrades. We hope you enjoy them!

How to build is uploaded my YouTube channel.

Inspired by some reptilian mecha in Metroid Prime 3. Careful, he's fragile.

This year is Metroid's 30th anniversary, so I thought I would continue doing a few more METROID builds before I moved on to other things. Here's the first. I based this version of Kraid off of his Metroid Zero Mission design. I've never played Zero Mission, but it's Metroid, so it must be good.... right?

Since Kraid is usually portrayed as huge, I had to downsize the scale to micro. Plus I made my own logo. ^_^

Used a red and green laser pointer to get the flare in this shot. Worked out pretty well, though I nearly blinded myself in the process.

Built for a LEGO Nintendo Switch contest over on the BrickBuilding Discord channel.

Happy Window Wednesday, everyone! It would seem a creative individual has constructed their own Metroid character using multi-colored Post-it notes.

... so this upload exists for two reasons alone.

1. Space suits and space jellyfish are still cool, regardless of how much I know about them.

2. My OCD isn't letting me have only two items in my videogames album.

Couldn't resist this minifigure from minifigureHQ. Proud of my little Metroid build in the background there :)

"Morphology: Grenchler.

Water-based reptilian predator. Well-armored and deadly at any range.

The amphibious Grenchler lurks in marsh areas in search of prey. Fearless, it will spring from hiding and attack anything that moves. If it is unable to fell its prey with its powerful jaws, it will fire a potent burst of energy at them. Grenchlers have one weak spot—a genetic defect makes the shell on their back susceptible to explosive blasts."

Reference image. Made for biog's Xenozoology contest, for which I thought an alien creature from Metroid Prime 2 would fit nicely!

For best effect, listen to this while viewing.

With the holidays right around the corner I have been pretty busy. Though, I did fit in enough time to build this little throwback to my NES days.

Let me know what you think! :D

From Metroid games. More at my blog.

Was inspired by the two 3x3 quarter-dome pieces on the visor to make a spaceman character in a video-gamey style like Mega Man or Metroid. It was a bit of a challenge figuring out the joints to make the character as solid, movable and clean as possible. I used mixel balls & cups, 1x2 plates with holes and even minifigure sawblades for the joints!

bricksalive gave me this half finished custom at BFVA last year, and I went ahead and completed it.
