Metaphysics of peeping

Peeping through the fence of the rail depot. In the neighborhood, Tokyo, Japan. © Michele Marcolin, 2023. K1ii + smc Pentax 200mm f2.5

Ha! The alternative entry to Sydney's Luna Park.

This photo, taken in May 2023 with my Canon 5D Mk IV, was inspired by the metaphysical-style art of Giorgio de Chirico, with his use of shadows and illogical, mysterious, perspectives.

Check his work at 'Art News':

And speaking of 'Crazy Blue' here is my current favourite artist on Spotify, Soundcloud and Youtubemusic - it's IMY2.

I LOVE the lead singer's cool blue hair and her absolutely sensational voice. Her name is Annalise Mahanes, and here she is with Gnarls Barkley's song 'Crazy'. And she even says 'Ha Ha Ha' in the lyrics, lol. Very gorgeous!!!

The mountain knocked against my bones

And I invited it to take over

A vast visitor

Making space inside me and tearing my terrain apart

There is no gall left nor a spleen

Useless body things

I traded my limbs for valleys and slopes

A fortress of trees to guard me

And snow capped peaks that cause

The people below to gaze in a cerebral wonder

Shiver and exclaim

“I bet it’s freezing up there!"

You cannot transform me anymore

One day you reminded me that the cells in one’s body

Change over completely every 7 years.

Now, it will be 700

I might even get angry and erupt

Emerge like if Joan of Arc was a landscape

And everyone I know will be dead.

Il quadro nella foto è di Piero Marussig (Trieste 1879 - Pavia 1937 ). Guardandolo ho immaginato che il ragazzo del quadro continui a giocare nelle sale del museo.

This is metaphysical squirrel. You may not know this, but squirrels are extremely playful with metaphysics, puzzling humans with thought games just as surely as they puzzle dogs with tree games.

Metaphysical squirrel posited basically three arguments to me on this occasion:

1) I was only dreaming and he did not really exist.

2) He was just a part of the tree that I thought was a squirrel. All things are one. There is no separateness between trees and squirrels. Any distinction is a purely human construct.

3) All of what we perceive as reality is just a holographic projection from a two-dimensional plane of pure information.

I said to him, how ironic then that I have reduced this holographic illusion to a two dimensional plane of assorted pixels, derived mathematically from a set of pure data in a two-dimensional plane.

The kids and I were talking metaphysics and look who showed up. A barred owl flew into our view at 3pm. Owls aren't usually flying around mid-day. And of course, I had to run out and get a photo.

Thank you for looking at my images. It is very much appreciated.

An image was placed on the walls of Tibetan monasteries thousands of years ago called the Bhavachakra, translated as The Wheel of Life, or The Wheel of Existence.

An image, a form of mandala, a portal to psychological and metaphysical truths about our mind, our behavior, our existence in our reality and beyond.

Although an overwhelming visual spectacle at first, if we want to start the discovery somewhere, we can look at the very center of the Bhavachakra, right at the core there is a circle. And inside that circle we can observe three animals: a pig, a rooster and a snake, all chasing each other, forming a circle themselves.

In his early teachings, Buddha identified “three poisons,” or three fires, or three negative qualities of the mind that cause most of our problems—and most of the problems in the world.

The three poisons are Ignorance, Greed and Hatred.

Inside the Bhavachakra image, ignorance represented by the pig, greed as the rooster and hatred is shown in the form of a snake, and by them biting into each others tale they keep all the wheels turning like an unstoppable force, like an engine behind all things.

We don’t need to look far to see these three poisons at work. We see them every day in the news and in the streets, and if we pay attention, we can see them in our own mind and actions. The arising of these feelings may be outside our control—we don’t choose to be angry, for instance. But recognizing how greed, hatred, and ignorance cause tremendous harm in the world can help us learn to manage them.

Although this teaching may appear negative, a wise understanding of the three poisons is ultimately positive and empowering. With this understanding we can clearly see and feel the factors that are causing confusion, unhappiness, and suffering in our lives. And with this clarity and insight, we can make the choice to eliminate those factors.

The three poisons are opposed by three wholesome, or positive attitudes essential to liberation: generosity (dana), lovingkindness (metta), and wisdom (prajna).

This photo was taken in Capri, at Villa San Michele, Axel Munthe's house. It clearly reminds of the Italian metaphysical painter Giorgio de Chirico.

Sabbioneta (Mantova)

From UNESCO world eritage List:

Mantua and Sabbioneta, in the Po valley, in the north of Italy, represent two aspects of Renaissance town planning: Mantua shows the renewal and extension of an existing city, while 30 km away, Sabbioneta represents the implementation of the period’s theories about planning the ideal city.

Sabbioneta, created in the second half of the 16th century under the rule of one person, Vespasiano Gonzaga Colonna, can be described as a single-period city and has a right angle grid layout.

The Ghats in Varanasi are world-renowned embankments made in steps of stone slabs along the river bank where pilgrims perform ritual ablutions. The ghats are an integral complement to the Hindu concept of divinity represented in physical, metaphysical, and supernatural elements. Varanasi has at least 84 ghats, most of which are used for bathing by pilgrims and spiritually significant Hindu puja ceremony, while a few are used exclusively as Hindu cremation sites. Steps in the ghats lead to the banks of Ganges, including the Dashashwamedh Ghat, the Manikarnika Ghat, the Panchganga Ghat, and the Harishchandra Ghat, where Hindus cremate their dead. Many ghats are associated with Hindu legends and several are now privately owned.

Many of the ghats were constructed under the patronage of the Marathas like Scindias, Holkars, Bhonsles, and Peshwas. Most are bathing ghats, while others are used as cremation sites. A morning boat ride on the Ganges across the ghats is a popular tourist attraction. The extensive stretches of ghats in Varanasi enhance the riverfront with a multitude of shrines, temples, and palaces built "tier on the tier above the water's edge".

The Dashashwamedh Ghat is the main and probably the oldest ghat of Varanasi located on the Ganges, close to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

It is believed that Brahma created this ghat to welcome Shiva and sacrificed ten horses during the Dasa-Ashwamedha yajna performed there. Above and adjacent to this ghat, there are also temples dedicated to Sulatankesvara, Brahmesvara, Varahesvara, Abhaya Vinayaka, Ganga (the Ganges), and Bandi Devi, which are all important pilgrimage sites. A group of priests performs "Agni Pooja" (Sanskrit: "Worship of Fire") daily in the evening at this ghat as a dedication to Shiva, Ganga, Surya (Sun), Agni (Fire), and the entire universe. Special aartis are held on Tuesdays and on religious festivals.

The Manikarnika Ghat is the Mahasmasana, the primary site for Hindu cremation in the city. Adjoining the ghat, there are raised platforms that are used for death anniversary rituals. According to a myth, it is said that an earring of Shiva or his wife Sati fell here. Fourth-century Gupta period inscriptions mention this ghat. However, the current ghat as a permanent riverside embankment was built in 1302 and has been renovated at least three times throughout its existence.

The Jain Ghat is believed to birthplace of Suparshvanatha (7th Tirthankara) and Parshvanatha (23rd tirthankara). The Jain Ghat or Bachraj Ghat is a Jain Ghat and has three Jain Temples located on the banks of the River. It is believed that the Jain Maharajas used to own these ghats. Bachraj Ghat has three Jain temples near the river's banks, and one them is a very ancient temple of Tirthankara Suparswanath.

The astute philosopher seeks the optimum environment to contemplate the epistemological, metaphysical, and axiological concepts that form the foundational pillars of philosophical investigation.

Some masters have retreated to mountain heights. Others to temples of knowledge. Linus prefers a bench in Turtle Crossing Park.

It offers the quiet solitude (Sometimes.) that is conducive to clear, flowing thought. Both inductive and deductive reasoning are vigorously pursued.

Linus has deduced that his hunger is an epistomological certainty, his empty stomach is a metaphysical reality, and a cheeseburger is of immense axiological value.

...

...grrrmbbll...

...

Time to head to Boop's. There, Linus will be able to more fully explore the insurmountable ontology of the cheeseburger, the profound aesthetic of grilled beef and cheese, and the evident causality on the effect of his hunger.

It's all for philosophy.
