Excellent weekend, part of which is because this photo of a very sad metaphor turned out so well.

Cliches are spawn of the devil's tongue.

Left behind from an Easter egg hunt. If the Monday-Wednesday-Friday pre-schoolers also miss this tomorrow, and if there's candy inside the egg, then it's mine!

Life should be lived backwards.

Song: Sweet dreams by Emily Browning.

...and who exactly is this "Freud" you speak of?

It may help with metaphor construction if one knows that it was a chilly, drizzly day and the colorful folks on the raft were freezing their butts off, thus experiencing an interesting combination of euphoria and misery.

Oh, Joseph

Rain sometimes is like a medicine,

it can clean our thoughts

and make them free.

This would be a stupid shot

but the raindrop is like a life metaphor .....

La pioggia qualche volta è come una medicina,

può pulire i nostri pensieri

e renderli liberi .

Questo sarebbe uno scatto stupido

ma la goccia di pioggia è una metafora della vita .....

the full video is too gigantic and flickr won't let me upload it!!! so here it is on vimeo:

For many of my friends and colleagues, this must be what a conversation with me looks like. It is the picture of post-modernity described to me by so many ingrained modern thinking Christians. Switch tracks, confusion, uncertainty, and then off the rails the end of the line. None of the decisions were right. What's more, the whole thing is a siding, going on just beside the mainline, gently curving around the bend in the distance. What could be more sure and safe?

perfect symbol for today

Picture from 2008... I swear, they were rotten when I got here.

Trying my look with photo metaphors. Feed back please on what you think

I have several sets of these poetry magnets, most notably philosophy and chocolate, among others. I do not generally use them to make sentences. I have found them to be profound stores of wisdom if one only takes them as they come, especially the philosophy one. Thus, I only take them apart in little clumps of wisdom.

This phrase is one of two engraved on my iPod; the other is a song lyric. This little phrase--ungrammatical, but clearly meaningful--is a definite visual metaphor for me. There is SO very much of my beliefs and life experience of truth, reason, education, normality, gender and so forth in these four seemingly simple words.

Preliminary photo for the upcoming Happy Faces series. Keep an eye (or two) open.
