This Hubble photograph captures a small region within Messier 17 (M17), a hotbed of star formation. M17, also known as the Omega or Swan Nebula, is located about 5500 light-years away in the Sagittarius constellation. The wave-like patterns of gas have been sculpted and illuminated by a torrent of ultraviolet radiation from young, massive stars (which lie outside the picture to the upper left).

Throwing powder paint at my cousin. I don't think she knew what she got herself into when she volunteered.
This is my first decent astro photo using a telescope. It is the great globular cluster M13 in Hercules, a personal favourite of mine. Taken on the clear, windy night of the 26th; most of the frames had to be discarded .
Equipment used...
Celestron nexstar 8se
Canon 550D
T2 to 1.25" adaptor
16 frames at 3200iso and 11sec shutter. I used photoshop to remove the light pollution then stacked them in Deep Sky Stacker, no dark or flat frames used.

Camper chose to eat dinner tonight in (ahhemmm....) my old mask - from my days as a masked crime fighter, of course.

He's reading a 1980's Japanese baseball comic which he bought in Hiroshima when we were there last year. He also needs to comb his hair.

Messier 45, Las Pleyades. Apilado de 135x32 secs, f:105mm @ F/5.6, ISO 1600. Canon 1000D + Sigma 55-200. 20-09-2011.
Here’s my latest image: Messier 78, a breathtaking reflection nebula in the constellation Orion. The blue hues come from starlight reflecting off cosmic dust, beautifully complemented by stunning dust lanes—dark streaks that weave through the glowing blue. It’s like a piece of cosmic art, full of striking contrast and intricate details of a star-forming region.
It’s been a year since I last processed a deep-sky image. Teaching has turned out to be more demanding than I ever anticipated, but with the school holidays finally here, I’ve had the chance to return to astronomy!
P.S. The original data was acquired from the remote astronomy platform Telescopelive, which I processed using PixInsight and Photoshop.
I know my iMac is jealous that I'm on the PC notebook.... but, you do what you got to do sometimes..... it still gets a lot of use of course.
My desktop is a nightmare..... vintage stuff happening there...
