Just playing around with different text and effects. I used this photo to powerclip this image into the text.

One of the six rules, Avoiding merges

Parts of this year have felt exactly like this. Some have flowed more gently into each other, some with boundaries of various depths. Still, a full image, an understanding of what my center looks like, and how much it's able to give and hold.

Two pics taken in the train station in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I did not originally intend that these photos be merged and obviously there is a little "artistic" license taken here. I love the result despite the imperfections.

Another digital painting for you. This one was created in Inkscape and photoshop, using various brushes and textures.

Have you seen the movie "Perfume - the story of a murderer"? Ooh it's a bit of a corker I must say. For anyone into visuals and lets be honest we all are on this site, it is a must see. It is a visual delight and feels as though the film was made with it's visual impact as the primary driving force. The music is also top notch and combined with the cinematography, it's any movie lovers dream. The story is about a young man with an extraordinary sense of smell. After being captivated by the smell of a young woman he starts on a journey to discover how to capture the smell of everything. As the title suggests this leads to him learning the trade of a perfumer and to murder.

Without the invention of smellavision, the director has used visual and audio to transfer to us, what the nose can not pick up. The ending goes a little too far and has the feel of a fairytale to it, which isn't really in keeping with the rest of the film but the story was originally a book so I can imagine that it was very hard to transfer this part. If you can put this aside and just concentrate on the feast laid out before your eyes and ears then you are in for a real treat.

It is not very often that I watch a film and then want to watch it again straight away but I am already planning to watch it again this evening. So that should say something to you. Go and rent it out or (ahem) download it ;o)

Very limited time this week, so no time to do much more than the basics. I like the double feather better than the single stitch, so I opted to see what might happen if I mirrored it and merged the two sides over successive rows.

I think the fully merged version might be more interesting if one worked both colors simultaneously, reversing the layering of the two colors with each completed set so that they weave rather than simply over- or underlay, Maybe later, if I have time.

This weekend was the annual IIDA MERGE fashion show in Sacramento. This yearly design competition uses architectural finish materials and four hours to create a themed runway- wearable costume. The 2017 theme was different countries, and our team had Thailand. Below is the design concept and Explanation of Material Use.

Kinnaree. A Buddhist mythological character with the upper half of a strong, beautiful woman and the lower half of a graceful swan. She watches over the well-being of humans in times of trouble and danger. This beloved creature is honored throughout Thai culture, from Buddhist religious teachings to visual and performing arts. As it so often is the case in art, there is more to this statuesque representation of Kinnaree than meets the eye.

The design for our Kinnaree’s layered dress was inspired by those worn by traditional Thai dancers. The deep violet base layer is upholstery fabric from Kimball, while the outer layer is a grey upholstery from OFS brands. Milliken carpet planks were used to create the Kinnaree’s wings and her headpiece and accessories are adorned with Trinity Tile provided by AMA Surfaces. The grey tones and textures of the materials were carefully selected to evoke a stone statue look. Violet hues are a predominant feature, as purple is the lucky color for Saturday in Thai culture. The mystery material, Mohawk gold thread, ties our elaborate outfit together and creates the perfect finishing touches to complete our Thailand look.

Ok, this is Victoria Square in belfast, i took this almost a year ago. It is around 27 photos merged into one. There were a few holes so i had to fill them in terribly in photoshop.

Must try get back up with my wideangle lens and try to recreat this photo.
