Merapi Lava Tour. Sand mining seems to be the principal activity around the Sabo dams where the cold lava flow carrying sand, boulders and debris are contained by the barriers during heavy torrential rain. I reckon this is Kali Gendol as told by Dolly, the Jeep operator.
People are queuing patiently for food and water being distributed by hundreds of local volunteers. A massive aid operation is now underway to provide for some 200,000 people who have had to flee Indonesia's most violent volcanic eruptions in a hundred years.

Iyoyo, a 48 year old farmer, believes the worst is still to come: "I know the characteristics of the mountain" he explains. "Every hundred years we have a major eruption. The worst is still to come." Iyoyo fled his village three days ago as it was engulfed by an avalanche of hot gas and ash. He has now found shelter in Yogyakarta's main football stadium.
