Puddles and ponds to get reflections of buildings are not that common in Melbourne but outside the National Gallery is this pond where I was able to get some reflection of the Arts Centre Spire next door.. For Rodney Chester who does these types of shots superbly.

A different perspective on a building located in Melbourne's Dockland Precinct. What I really enjoyed was the moodiness of the sky and how it changed the colour of the building.

Southbank has been undergoing various changes with the works hidden behind boards. These have been painted with various illustrations of Melburn including this one depicting a family. I rather liked it but it was difficult to get a photo without the pedestrians passing in front. A Lensbaby photo

Flinders Street Station, Melbourne’s beating heart.

The tram moves through crossing steps and hurried glances.

Iconic architecture and urban life merge in this everyday moment.

A larger than usual queue perhaps as the underground train loop is closed while the Metro Tunnel construction goes ahead. All trains are going to Flinders Street Station, so this tram stop outside will enable people to get around the main CBD Grid. Notice the taller buildings are fading behind a heavy tropical mist. It cleared after lunch to a hot and fine day. Today has been similar. Tomorrow is going to be a real stinker! HFF

Living in a big city is a way to be alone amongst the crowds. One often feels completely isolated whilst people are rushing past, busy with their own lives and thoughts. Or in this case someone talking on the phone rather than interacting with others around them.

Melbourne foot traffic and laneway dining is certainly back to normal from this shot.

The Melbourne City Building is a four-storey brick building designed by W.H. Ellerker and E.G. Kilburn in 1888 for the short lived City of Melbourne Building Society, chaired at one time by Alfred Deakin. The building has two facades, to Elizabeth Street and Little Collins Street and returns on a curved rather than a splayed corner. The design eclectically combines classical elements such as columns, pilasters, aedicules and Baroque-style pediments with a picturesque roofline of steeply pitched slate roofs, wrought iron decoration and massive chimneys. The Melbourne City Building is architecturally significant as an excellent example of the so-called boom classical style of the late 1880s. The styling draws together a diverse array of classical elements and motifs that demonstrate the flamboyant confidence of building designers and their clients during the boom period of the 1880s. It is additionally significant as an unusual example of the manner of design in the central business district.

Here's to a Happy Christmas for all who celebrate it. No matter the thorny path!

The autumn trees were silently dropping leaves as a few people walked or drove by elegant Collins Street.

I noticed that the high end stores of Hermes, Gucci and others had small queues outside ( young people mainly) and practised controlled entry and exit. Some people were using masks but most weren't given the very small numbers of people out in the drizzly cool.

But for a Saturday afternoon at 4pm, eerily quiet.
