Gaydon Melmex melamine (4 of 6)

My "Notional". I converted a £5 plywood acoustic to look like a National "O" style using melamine sheet, a jig saw & some silver spray paint ! How does it sound? Not much worse than it did before, but it's lost some resonance.

with my apologies for not being around much at the moment

“And I write poetry on anything that comes to hand .., pink paper with yellow lines all creased and crumpled and slightly torn; brown paper bags that once contained Shiitake mushrooms for a soup; my favourite dark chocolate with sea salt cardboard wrappers and empty envelopes with stamps from far-off places where I will never go or never go again. Poets write on anything that comes to hand.

And I know the anxiety of being a wallflower

and I know all the perks.

And I know all the jerks that passed me by

or those that tried to prise me from the wall.

And I know what the cold is like

when I'm on the outside looking in.

And I know who will be there to catch me when I fall.

And I know what it's like to be a lost soul

wandering alone in the Universe.

And I know what it's like to find a friendship

that fills up all the gaps in me;

completes me like nothing else could ever do.

And I know what it's like to lose myself when I lost you

and the Universe imploded in on me.

And I know what it's like to miss you every day to Infinity and Beyond … simply é …

And I know more much more ...” - AP

Lights & Motion ~ "We Are Infinite"

CIPRIAN …

Eyes so brown with flecks of yellow

nutbrown struck by sunlight

walk through fields of Springtime meadows

wildflowers swaying in delight

arm in arm and minds on nothing

living dreams that lift our souls

stop to eat when we get hungry

sip mushroom soup from chipped and yellowed melamine bowls

exchanging glances shyly hesitant

small smiles turned up at the corners

I did not know this was goodbye

that I would be an absentee among the mourners

how many years has it been now

it feels like only yesterday

still I think I'll one day see you

when the rain storms come and slant my way

I left the crucifix to dangle

to keep me safe on the less-travelled road

I think of that small clip from that film I did not show here

that one entwined within our code

we talked in shorthand when we spoke

or with a smile or with our eyes

the friendship rose and fell again

then rose again just like the sunrise

some things may always be left unspoken

sometimes words are not enough

but we knew that friendship lasts

beyond infinity although it's tough

I still read your poetry

still read between those beautiful lines

and browse through your photography

so much deleted those words of mine

but not your fault but deep within me

was something broken and you could see

and though I did not realise it back then

you protected me from knowing your destiny

I can thank you for many reasons

for being there throughout my trials

a rock a guiding hand held out through all four seasons

remembering your beautiful smiles

to feel the love you had for life

still tangible though you are gone

I can feel you close beside me

whenever I need to be more strong

I rarely met anyone else like you

whose aura was so bright

you saw behind my eyes of blue

to the sorrow that denied my light

you never gave up on me I know

you wanted me to know what life is for

I try to remember all you taught me

I miss you always and simply more …

Dedicated to my beloved friend, Ciprian

A poet and the most beautiful human being you could ever wish to meet. To know him was to love him and when he passed he left the biggest hole in the Universe. I don't think I shall ever see his like again in this incarnation anyway …

Two long years and I still miss you though you are everywhere

In the rain and in the yellow

To Infinity and beyond … simply é …

Iubirea mea pentru tine nu va muri niciodata

We spoke mostly in French, but I did try to speak Romanian sometimes and he would smile indulgently. He recognised the child-like innocence in me that wants everyone and everything to be alright. He encouraged me in my writing and indulged my childish tantrums because he knew that like all things they would pass and he knew the reasons for them and accepted my brokeness because it is part of who I am. That was Ciprian … all-accepting; never just loving one small part of me, but embracing all of me with all the frailties and complexities within my nature. Oh, and one more thing, he loved cats and I would have loved him just for that ; 0) There are many different kinds of love. Our love was pure. The love borne of friendship and shared love of poetry and our minds always questioning everything.

I send my love and respect to dear Ciprian's wife who made his life so very happy. She was the love of his life and he of hers. If I feel the loss of my friend so deeply I can only imagine how hard it is for her to bear. My heart goes out to her on this day, the second anniversary of his passing.

Wherever you are!! :)

I really liked this tray but it is now in the OUT tray, one side cracked off, leaving a sharp edge. Ancient melamine.

Love how they can snug up in twos to make an interesting little snack serving piece. These would also be great for serving nuts or candy. I have a weakness for early plastics.

On the TANTRIX website they always said it was made of Bakelite. Now they call it amino resin. So it is more something like urea or melamine. Anyway it has not any smell.

How 'bout a tune for our time - things a bit wacky, as if many are smokin' the tobacky and this fine Canadian artist is anything but tacky: 'Mélamine' - Klô Pelgag.

Only one thing remains to be done in this part of the kitchen...a very large window will be installed over the sink. I'll lose my sill, but I will be able to enjoy the back garden without standing on tiptoes!

Since this photo was taken, there have been a few changes and a bit of organizing, as I do alot of cooking in this little kitchen. A shelf (for vintage glassware) was added over the micro, the breadmaker was retired in lieu of artisan bread (which is cheaper, healthier, and tastes waaaay better) and a few other useful vintage pieces were added here and there.

Like my approach with the theme of eyes (in Week 2), I decided to veer a little from what was, to me, the obvious reading of the language. As such, this is a full colour image, with the colours themselves limited only to black and white. I used a strobe and a small, f/18 aperture to freeze the motion of the water and ice. The black worked well, and I like the reflective property of the melamine. While I did use a second, off-camera strobe to correct some the shadow on the white background, I'm disappointed by the excess grey.

(never had a custard apple before, waiting for it to be ripe)

I love our melamine plates. Most of the smaller ones were given to us by the lovely kaylovesvintage :)

During the winter months it was common practice in Network South East days for the Marshlink service (Hastings to Ashford) to be reduced to 2-car sets which was still adequate for seating capacity but improved time keeping on the low adhesion section through the woods between Doleham and Ore.

Set 205 101 was the only member of the class 205/1 sub class and is seen climbing away from Hastings with the 08.12 Hastings to Ashford service about to pass Hastings Park Sidings.

205 101 was originally numbered 1111 as a standard Hampshire set or 3H. It had gained the nickname "The Bean Row" until it was renumbered to conform to TOPS numbering as 205 101.

It was experimentally rebuilt at BREL Eastleigh Works in 1979 as a prototype for the rest of the class but the overhaul was protracted to say the least having gone out of service in late 1978 it didn't return until March 1980 and was the only unit ever to be rebuilt. The unit returned with florescent lighting new melamine facia panels, public address and was fitted with a through corridor between vehicles. The cabs were totally rebuilt with a 1963 EMU driving desk replacing the original DEMU controls. It had returned to service still numbered 1111 but was classified by the Southern Region as a 3H(M) the M standing for Modernised. Because the refurbishment had seen the first class seating removed in favour of open saloons the unit was unsuitable for the East Sussex commuter lines into London from East Grinstead and Uckfield so it lived at St.Leonards depot and spent the rest of its life back and forth across the Romney Marsh working the Hastings to Ashford 'Marsh-link' line. In 1995 it was again renumbered when the intermediate vehicle was an ex class 411 EMU trailer it then became set 205 205 (class 205/2) and got the classification 3-MAG which stood for "Marshlink Additional Gangway" but known to many as 'Maggot sets' as the centre coach had a noticeably different fatter body profile.

No, this isn't a yoyo. It's a retractable cloths line. Made of urea/plaskon/Bakelite, I believe

Great little set of measuring spoons in melamine, from Avon of all people!

I found a 5'x9' melamine-coated countertop at Home Depot for only $28, and after plopping it on top of my existing drafting table, and adding iron-on plastic tape around the previously-unfinished edge and sanding it down, I now have a much larger building surface in the Lego room!

(for reference, the MOC you see here used to cover the entire drafting table)

I managed to get the wi-fi extender to push a strong enough signal to stream football out to the garage as well, as you can see, haha!

Hopefully lots of building in my future this winter!

The potters are the one who make things out of simple clay.........They are the persons of the livelihoods that is going to extinct because of modern plastic , melamine and aluminium industry......They are in my view the Artist of the soil & clay,.... the ultimate architect of the earth.

From Claudia (Kittyconde).

Thank you so much !

23:365 i took a few pictures this morning before we went to the market, they weren't much good really, i didn't spend enough time on it i suppose. i have photographed my plate wall a few times as it grows and evolves, it's a mixture of vintage finds and my own designs, i designed the one you see closest to the edge.
