Christ Church, Melaka was constructed from 1741 to 1753. This is the original building with the exception that the porch and vestry were added in the mid 1800s. The Pink color was added in 1911, it was originally painted white. Built by Dutch settlers the church was later re-purposed as an Anglican church, which it remains as today. The British East India Company too possession of Melaka in 1838 and the name Christ Church was given to the building when it was consecrated by clergy from the Church of England. The bell, inscribed with 1698, suggests that it was used for another purpose before being installed here.
