A Sony Mavica MVC-FD75. It had a whopping 0.97 megapixels and a 10x lens. This one required a 3.5 inch floppy disc (remember those?) that would only hold 12 images. I still have it. Somewhere.

This is a reprocessed photo from years ago.

Thank you all so very much for your comments and faves, but most of all I thank you for just taking the time to look. I appreciate each one of you! Gracias. Merci. Danke. Obrigado. Grazie. Go raibh maith agat. Tapadh leat. Gratias tibi.

Nikon D800E Dr. Elliot McGucken Fine Art Photography for Los Angeles Gallery Show!

Yet more photos and more final edits! I was up at 4:30 AM the past four days shooting sunrises! Awesome sunrises over Point Dume thie time of year in Malibu.

Then I spent all day today moving over 75 large photos into the gallery! Most of these are framed and matted with 13"x19" metallic prints and an 18"x24" mat and a 3" wood-grain black frame! They look awesome! Stop on by Bel Air Camera's Gallery downstairs if you are close to UCLA or in Westwood. Give me a head's up, and I will meet you there if I'm free.

I thought I was done a couple days ago for December's LA Gallery show, but art is never done until it's done, and even then. . . Will be busy printing and framing in nice large, matted formats and frames and museum glass! Five of these photos will be printed on 40" x 60" floating wall mounted metal sheets! I think I know which--will share photos of the photos hanging on the walls!

And I am mounting some on plexiglass/acryllic--front mounting them! Some I am printing on lossy fuji-crystal archival paper too, and then front mounting 40"x60" versions to plexiglass--will send photos!

The secret to HDR photography is that you want people to say, "Woe dude--that's unreal!" And not, "Dude--that's not real!" "Unreal" is the word they use when they're trying to figure out the photo--what makes it cool--is it a photo? Is it painted? How'd it come to be--how'd you bend the light that way? "That's not real," is what they say if you have the saturation/HDR/ etc. turned up too high. :)

Some (almost) final edits for December's Los Angeles Gallery Show! Printing them on metallic paper at 13" x 19" and mounting and framing them on a 4mm 18x24 white mat and 2" dark wood frame. Also printing some 40" x 70" whihc is over three feet by five feet! Wish you all could come (and hang out with the goddesses)!

Josh's old camera has now joined my collection despite it not being very old of course. Olympus 14 Megapixel camera with a 5x zoom lens and an oversized built in flash, which was the main reason he now has a new camera as after exactly 12 months (warranty time) the flash died

I don't make posts like this on Flickr but I've received a lot of messages asking why I'm using a 4 megapixel camera from 2001? Most questioned the slowness of the camera, the limited iso, and the size of prints that could be made with only 4 megapixels. First, I like using the Canon G2 for my diner snapshots. People are curious by the camera and most think it uses film. The color output from the CCD sensor is great and the 4 megapixels is more than enough to make prints on 17"x22" paper. I also prefer the 4:3 ratio over the 3:2. Frankly I think I could make larger prints if I owned a larger Epson printer. The trick to using these older digicams is to shoot like you're using Kodachrome film. Low iso, get the correct exposure and in low light use the flash.

Pretty Goddess modeling the new Sony A7R ! Swimsuit Bikini Model Goddess Shooting Stills (Sony A7R with 35mm F/2.8 Carl Zeiss Lens) & Video (Sony NEX6) at the same time with the 45surfer philosophy bracket! I use it on every shoot, as there is so much beauty in the world and so little time, so you might as weill shoot stills and video at the same time! :) Writing a book on it! :)

A warm Malibu December when the sun satys low all day, allowing us to shoot at noon as if it was 5 PM in the summer!

Here's some video shot at the same time as stills using a Sony A7R for the video camera:

Photos shot with the Nikon D800E and Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II AF-S Nikkor Zoom Lens with the B W 77mm XS-Pro Kaesemann Circular Polarizer with Multi-Resistant Nano Coating filter. I always, always shoot with a CP filter--even on cloudy days!

Enjoy the pretty goddesses and all the best on your epic hero's journey!

Modeling the new black & gold & "Gold 45 Revolver" Gold'N'Virtue swimsuits with the main equation to Moving Dimensions Theory on the swimsuits: dx4/dt=ic. Yes I have a Ph.D. in physics! :) You can read more about my research and Hero's Journey Physics here:

herosjourneyphysics.wordpress.com/ MDT PROOF#2: Einstein (1912 Man. on Rel.) and Minkowski wrote x4=ict. Ergo dx4/dt=ic--the foundational equation of all time and motion which is on all the shirts and swimsuits. Every photon that hits my Nikon D800e's sensor does it by surfing the fourth expanding dimension, which is moving at c relative to the three spatial dimensions, or dx4/dt=ic!

The models were tall, thin, fit, and gorgeous beach goddesses! A blond and a brunette with long, long silky hair! Poseidon would approve! If he were shooting them, he'd want to capture simultaneous photographic stills and video at the same time too.

Best on your hero's journey from Johnny Ranger McCoy! :)

The books behind the pretty goddess on the Malbu bluff and surfboard are The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire by Edward Gibbon, Homer's Iliad, Homer's Odyssey, Shakespeare, and Herman Melville's Moby Dick! My favorite books! Will have some video of the pretty model reading them beside a campfire soon.

They're all collectors editions! My books cost as much as my surfboards!

And for those who always ask, I shoot in RAW! Always! :)

One of the forks of the Alsea River. I don't recall which one. Salmon were headed up river to spawn. This was fall about 4 years ago. I touched it up and gave it an oil paint technique but this site actually does exist. Taken with a Sony Mavica, sub- megapixel camera, hand held. About 4 or so pictures from this one, you can see the one I posted like this, but nothing at all done to it.

I pulled my 16 year old Kodak DC260 camera out of the desk drawer this afternoon. I remember purchasing two of these back in 1997 — one for me, one for EyeWire — for $1,200 apiece. They were slow and serial and magnificently clunky, but this one still works like a champ.

Preparing for some gallery shows this fall to celebrate 100,000,000 views! Printing a few dozen photographs in ~ 30"x40" formats and mounting/framing. Here are some close-to-final edits. HDR photography 7 exposures shot at 1EV and combined in photomatix: 36 megapixel Nikon D800E with the awesome Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Nikkor Wide Angle Zoom Lens. 45SURF Hero's Journey Mythology Photography!

Epic Scenic HDR Landscapes / Seascapes of the Malibu Canyons & Beaches Shot with Nikon D800: Hero's Journey Mythology Photography!

Shot with the Nikon Nikkor wide-angle 14-24 mm 2.8 lens!

Seven exposures @ 1EV finished in photomatix.

Enjoy the Hero's Journey Mythology Photography, and all the best on a hero's journey of your own making!

These were shot with Nikon's best D800 with the 14-24mm wide-angle Nikkor lens. 7 exposures were taken at 1 EV intervals, and combined in photomatix to bring out the shadows and highlights.

Rather large HDR (high dynamic range) photo--you can see great detail both near and far! View the detail at full size!

The Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Nikkor Wide Angle Zoom Lens rocks!

High Dynamic Range (HDR) photos rock in capturing the full dynamic range of the scene!

Some (almost) final edits for my Los Angeles Gallery Show! Printing them on metallic paper at 13" x 19" and mounting and framing them on a 4mm 18x24 white mat and 2" dark wood frame. Also printing some 40" x 70" whihc is over three feet by five feet! Wish you all could come (and hang out with the goddesses)!
