Part 4 in the megadrive series..
Best, Karm, Nerve, News..... BG and Charo by Best.
Great 2 days, spent most of em up the wobbly ladders, got an itch to paint bigger from now on. Shouts to Tes, Gumbo and Oath passing through, and Squid and Refs.

I am so happy to get this set! It's amazing and there are 4 sets which combine into 2 mega MEGADRIVE sets!
The cartridges and CD is super detailed. The CD trays open up and the cartridges fits like a glove
I was inspired by the ball & socket joints in the new Mixels sets, and this was the end result. Hopefully Lego will make the joints in many other colors!
design for competition on threadless. it took me hours to pen tool the pads, there are 25 consoles represented in all
Ah yes, Ice Cap Zone - everyone's favourite zone in Sonic 3. Or Sonic Adventure. Or both.
Also, here's some appropriate music: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPNgC3gBaq4

no idea what to call this! (help?)
and i can't decide which way around it needs to be. so do me a favour and hold your laptops upside down and let me know? i'm too sick to make decisions...
i'm more sick again today. i woke up fine but within two hours of me being awake i had lost all the colour from my face and looked scarily like a ghost of my former self. this flu has really taken it out of me :(
on the plus side, i just found out that the boys have sonic the hedgehog on ps3 from the old sega megadrive days when i was a kid. i can't wait to play it later :)
gah i'm such a geek.
I thought this week I would take a photo related to my favourite hobby, videogames. I grew up playing games, and will probably continue to do so as long as I have thumbs. The industry seems to have "grown up" in ways as time passed on and gaming is now everywhere but back in the days of 8-Bit and 16-Bit consoles is where my love for gaming is rooted. I never had my own Super Nintendo console growing up, I went from a NES to a Sega Megadrive II. Finally after many years I bought a SNES for myself a couple of years ago complete with this somewhat abused joypad.
Turns out EB Games has an online store and they had these Console Key Rings by Numskull on clearance so I had to grab what I could. I hoped they had the Playstation 4 but whatever I suppose.
I got a Playstation 2, Sega Megadrive, and Atari 2600 console and joystick. The consoles themselves are pretty decent 1/6th scale but the joystick is more 1/3 scale.
I’m really surprised at the high level of detail as you can see Numskull went out of their way to print lettering, replicate the woodgrain and have all the sculpting from the actual console on there.
Anyway my small collection of doll sized consoles is growing lol.
My piece for the Gallery 1988 group show "Old School Video Game Show".
I think most of the works in the show are going to be based on Nintendo games more as was the games platform of choice in the US. For me here in the UK it was all about having a Sega Mastersystem/Megadrive.
One of my fave games was R Type, so have mixed the end of level one boss character (nerds:is its name Krell???) with Sonic The Hedgehog. I also threw in a couple of R9's and Dr Robotnic!
Acrylic on canvas 455mm x 610mm approx.
I played a lot of Megadrive as a kid so this set was a must have! I managed to get them new (they sold out quickly). They came with very finely printed stickers which you had to assemble yourself but nothing complicated
Well...it's not Old MacDonald's farm. It's my toy farm I built for my kids 20 years ago, but now played with by my granddaughter. These are the newer, more robust tractors and machinery she plays with, but I have a huge collection of older ones up to 50 years old or so which I must admit I don't really know what to do with now.
But memories of growing up on this farm are so strong I want keep in touch with my youth....a perfect little world. My father farmed here, and my grandfather, and my great-grandfather before him. And I think there may have been one or two generations of Innes's who farmed at North Calder even further back in time too.
I built this in 1997 out of wood for my children to play with. It's already outlived generations of toys. Sega Megadrive, Nintendos, PlayStations, radio control cars, and thousands of other toys made up of plastic mouldings in a myriad of shapes, sizes and colours. Lord knows how many thousands of pounds spent and wasted, and broken, smashed, chewed and dumped. But at the end of the day I'm flattered that in our kid's eyes not even the Lego challenges our toy farm.
