In a time of constant stress, it is important to take time off, to unwind and relax, to restore calm and inner peace. This was the idea of this MOC, my way of relaxing and taking a break from everyday tasks and release the stress.
I’ve been wanting to build another star fighter since my Scorpion Starfighter in 2014, but never got around to it. The Star Fighter category in Space Jam gave me just the motivation I needed to finally get one built.
John bought me some magnets for Christmas, and I based the main play function around those by having a magnetic docking bay that houses a small speeder, or can capture small delinquent vehicles. The ship is based off the Space Police II theme, and I also took inspiration from Chris Perron’s gorgeous Enforcer. And of course as a SP II ship it has to have prison pods! There are also two technic missile launchers and opening cockpits on the small speeders and main star fighter.
The Magnetic Mediator is one of Space Police’s most feared patrol vehicles due to its accompanying police speeder and powerful electromagnets that make it nearly impossible for a small craft to escape its pursuit. Larger criminal vessels have to be wary of its heavy missile payloads and laser turrets.

1 Corinthians 15:12–28 (ESV)
The Resurrection of the Dead
12 Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. 15 We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.
20 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. 24 Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For “God has put all things in subjection under his feet.” But when it says, “all things are put in subjection,” it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him. 28 When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all.
Christ’s resurrection secures and illustrates that of his people. “(1.) Because his resurrection seals and consummates his redemptive power; and the redemption of our persons involves the redemption of our bodies (Rom. 8:23). (2.) Because of our federal and vital union with Christ (1 Cor. 15:21, 22; 1 Thess. 4:14). (3.) Because of his Spirit which dwells in us making our bodies his members (1 Cor. 6:15; Rom. 8:11). (4.) Because Christ by covenant is Lord both of the living and the dead (Rom. 14:9). This same federal and vital union of the Christian with Christ likewise causes the resurrection of the believer to be similar to as well as consequent upon that of Christ (1 Cor. 15:49; Phil. 3:21; 1 John 3:2).” Hodge’s Outlines of Theology.

Whilst taking photographs I feel totally adsorbed in the process. It’s a kind of mediate experience that enables me to immerse myself in the moment.
I often get the criticism (from my hippy friends) that I don’t truly experience the scene, because I’m behind the lens. That the lens a barrier to my enjoying the true experience. Now my reaction is of course to dismiss this ‘crazy’ notion, because I get so much pleasure from the process. But I do think there is an element of truth in it, based on different peoples perceptions of what I do.
My perception is that the process of capturing the photograph, does indeed distance me to some degree from the scene, (I’m busy setting up tripods, looking for compositions, interesting light and possible movement possibilities) but I would argue that this stimulates my eye. Stimulates my visual imagination of the place that I’’m in.
This brings me to an experience that I had this summer on a sunset shoot. A guy was meditating on the rocks looking at the sunset, as I was snapping away down below him, at the waters edge. What occurred to me then, was that we were both experiencing the sunset in similar but different ways. (He probably thought, “That guy is missing the experience man”!)
Now for me this is very interesting, because I would love to be able to seek deeper experiences and connect with nature in ‘that’ way, but I haven’t got the patience and I would always be looking for photographic opportunities. Anyway when the sun went down I made my way back up past him and we struck up a conversation. He said how beautiful it was and I obviously agreed, (nothing profound I’m afraid), but what differed in our experience was that ‘his’ experience was committed to memory and my experience of the event keeps coming back to me when I see the image I took that evening. I have recorded it, and can escape into that memory time and time again. I suspect the guy on the rock would need drugs to do the same (o: (am I being unfair?)
Anyway getting back to the way we see things differently. Editing photographs has a similar effect for me. I often ‘see’ more in an image when back home and I genuinely feel that this trains you to see more out in nature. I can also loose myself in the editing process with the added advantage of reliving the experience. Now this argument doesn’t swing with the people who argue that you’re living your life through a lens, but I say get you’re rose colored speck off and lets see if you can see me ignoring you.
If I’m honest my addiction to landscape photography can be frustrating at times. I’ve mentioned before my constant looking for shots, this has led me to carry my bloody camera gear around with me most of the time. Just incase I see something interesting. On a few occasions I've been without my gear and seen some incredible light and felt totally pissed off. It just not worth it!
So on a closing note (thank god some of you sigh) if your intention is to truly experience the place, then meditate on a rock, but if you want to get soggy socks and risk relationship breakdown, take up landscape photography (o:
Note: this is black and white because the color of the sand in the shot was a tad unappealing, so I decided to do a BW treatment.

First pics with my new camera! Works great so far. Went to explore places with Jannepaint and Missmoody. Of course I forgot my remote switch to home, but Missmoody helped and kept that shutter button down for me. Thanks again! Straight from the camera, except converted from RAW + custom WB.
