A healthy meal for this Merganser, a rude awakening from hibernation for this poor frog.

Lionesses are extremely protective of their cubs, but when it comes to mealtime, it is every lion for themselves. Sabi Sabi game reserve, South Africa.

Nothing says hopeful like a dog at mealtimes. Grimm is pretty certain that her odds of success are greater when the diners are under 10 years old. Or, maybe just when it's anyone other than me eating.

Like many people during the "Lockdown, stay at home" periods, mealtimes have become an important and central part of the day.

This morning brought a phone call from the doctor - its about your blood test.

It seems that if I don't lose some weight; health problems will be on the horizon.

So no more excuses the "low sugar" diet starts today (let the misery begin).

Stay safe, stay home, get vaccinated when you can.

What a surprise to see one doe nursing four fawns. I don't know if they are all hers, or if some are adopted.

Taken for Our Daily Challenge: mealtime

A small bowl of yogurt with raspberries and granola on top was my mid-afternoon snack today. This is my son's favourite "dessert" after he's already eaten his breakfast. I made him one of these one morning to try and now he loves it.

This is Lili. A beautiful white Turkish Angora cat I had the joy of cat-sitting while her human was away. These photos were taken on our last day together. She’s calm, elegant, a bit dramatic when eating, and quietly expressive. There’s something bittersweet about the final meal before goodbye. A moment of routine, yet filled with presence. This series is a small tribute to the brief companionship we shared.

Tässä on Lili upea valkoinen turkkilainen angora, jota sain kunnian hoitaa ystäväni loman aikana. Nämä kuvat on otettu viimeisenä päivänä ennen kuin palautin hänet omistajalleen. Lili on rauhallinen, elegantti ja hieman dramaattinen syödessään. Jokin haikeus leijui ilmassa viimeinen ateria ennen hyvästejä. Tämä sarja on kunnianosoitus lyhyelle, mutta kauniille yhteiselle hetkelle.

She wears an alluring mask over her dried out corpse. She’s a gourd, with a soul composed of little more than a few seeds rattling around amidst the hollow cavity she tries yet will never fill. Most can’t see beyond the mask, however, and celebrate her incredible beauty. They are the followers. They brag about their friendship with her, for she is popular, and impressive to others. They visit her often and notice with jealous, furtive glances when her attention is trained on the newcomers. They remember that attention and how it felt; it’s a magical high, and once experienced, a person can only but chase it to the ends of the earth. They do not see that she is all façade; a burnt-out crack house beneath. Beyond satiated; sickeningly overstuffed, yet still empty, she lies in wait until the next mealtime when she will play her lute, and invite them all back to the next private party. Everyone who’s anyone will be there, and never even notice the knee-deep sludge.

Caught standing on the chair I've told her 17,000 times not to stand on and that she's fallen out of 16,000 times. The other day she hit her head so hard that I had to call the doctor. If I catch her one more time, she will be required to wear a helmet during mealtimes.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I almost stumbled over these hands as I walked through Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington, North Carolina. I thought this was an interesting bit of statuary. The instription on the bottom says, "By His hands we all are fed." You may remember this from the child's mealtime blessing, "God is great, God is good..."

Remember my tiny tyrant crab spider post? This is what was going on next door: a green jagged ambush bug had nabbed a Virginia ctenucha moth. You can see a side view of crabby’s legs extended above the bloom on the right, waiting for prey of its own!

High noon, not the best time of day for photography. This individual did not appear especially distracted by people wandering by on the trail immediately adjacent to its perch.

Well I've lost that first Kilo but even though I've lost a bit more I keep losing ground. It is hard work and especially as I like a glass of red wine at mealtime. But now the summer weather is almost here I can do a bit more walking and as you can see here I've a tight aerodynamic snazzy Kirklands top for when I go speeding off on my bike frightening away the pigeons..

This little one enjoying its meal...

hurrah, after many months of no light directly above the table, we now have a spiffy little number doing a grand job of lighting up my orange mealtime offerings... she comes from IKEA and i am most delighted with her pretty ways :)

A sled dog guards its food and the look in its eye and its body position sends a warning not to approach too close. Port Dalhousie Pier Marina is located approximately 9 miles west of the Niagara River, and adjacent to the beautiful old town of Port Dalhousie in St. Catharines, Ontario. This marina is considered one of the most popular destination marinas on the south shore of Lake Ontario. Port Dalhousie Pier Marina offers beautiful panoramic views of Toronto to the north, the historical town of Niagara-on-the-Lake to the east and breathtaking sunsets to the west. The amazing scenery alone will make this a memorable vacation!

In addition to a desired location, Port Dalhousie Pier Marina also has fantastic amenities. Clean and private restroom, bathing and laundry facilities are open for guests 24-7. There is also a beautiful pool area, perfect for entertaining the kids all day. The marina is just minutes from the beautiful Lakeside Park beach as well, perfect for a great day under the sun.

The local grocery store will make mealtime easy and convenient. After stocking up the galley, guests can then BBQ in the community picnic area overlooking the Lake.

I managed to capture some more pics of my sister's cat, Ramadan at her home. Here he's tucking into a hearty meal of his favorite kibble and boiled chicken.

I hadn't used my old EF 50mm f/1.8 II prime lens for years and decided to bring this lens with me. Shot with my aging EOS 650D {hey, it still works!) 😁

Oh, how I suffer for my art.

In the rain, I crouched beneath one of the lost and forgotten webs of the spiny micrathena, now gone from his place.

I jammed my shoulder against the porch to get this shot.

Probably not worth it. But you should all send me "awws" and "oh, how he suffers for his art" messages. Then you should send me money. And love. And lovemoney.

Mmm, lovemoney.

Das habe ich gerade in meinem Garten entdeckt... Neulich, als ich diese große Puppenhülle fand, war ich der Meinung eine Hornisse sei geschlüpft. Aber es war wohl anders.

During our holidays in the Var, a friendly neighbor came to see us, strangely, at mealtimes. Snake eyes, a multicolored coat of camouflage type and a pierced ear gave him a devastating look.

Pendant nos vacances dans le Var, un sympathique voisin est venu nous voir, étrangement, à l’heure des repas. Des yeux de serpent, un pelage multicolore de type camouflage et une oreille percée lui donnaient un look ravageur. .

I don't think that Cadillac Ranch was ever on my bucket list (don't even have one now) but when I learned I would be camping within thirty miles of this site, I allowed some time to visit. (Made sure it was near mealtime so I could also scout around for a Whataburger, which is almost as easy to find in Texas as Walgreens.)

I guess the experience was ok, but I left feeling somewhat disappointed. The Caddies have been painted and stripped so much that they barely resemble cars, to say nothing about Cadillacs. Guess that goes along with the idea that this is a place where people can be creative. I can understand that, but anybody carrying a camera should stay as far away from other visitors as possible... the wind blows here, and practically everybody (including the youngster on the far right) comes armed with a can of spray paint. (Didn't realize this until I read the linked article... Just four months before my visit, these cars were all painted black in recognition of "Black Lives Matter". The graffiti artists work fast around here!)

I think this buck is taking mealtime somewhat seriously.
