In honor of Star Wars Day, this is a repost of one of the most ambitious motion graphics special effects videos I did in the last year. It is an homage to The Empire Strikes Back and ATARI Asteroids.

Away from home at the moment and only had a couple of gadgets in my bag! The items used for this shot were as follows:

Annoyingly I didn't have any torches with me, so I had to make do with the light from my iPod. Hats of to Catch-Light for finding the app. I'll have to revisit this idea in the future when I've got more time and some flashes.

A very good friend of mine actually contacted LEGO and asked where she can find Bride and Groom minifigs. They said only with the Town Hall set, but LEGO actually gave her just the 2 minifigs. :)
My dad and I saw Star Wars for the first of multiple times @ Graumann's on May 25th, 1977.
I had never been to such an event before and it was so packed, we had to sit separately. This was a point of anxiety as I was just a kid. I kept looking around in the direction where he was sitting but I couldn't see him for the forest of people. But then the lights went out, the curtains went up, the famous crawl began and I was utterly immersed in a galaxy far, far away.
After the screening my dad and I ran wildly through the lobby looking for each other. I still remember the excited gleam in his eye and the silly grin on his face. I don't think either of us could stop talking about it as we headed on over to Pickwick Books on Hollywood Blvd.
Pickwick was a book hoarder’s paradise, a musty old bookstore full of new and used books. It's long gone like most bookstores today but it was the place where my dad once bought me a copy of Ralph McQuarrie's book of concept art from the movie.
Years later I lost my dad -- not in a movie theater -- but to cancer. So this memory is one of my fondest shared experiences with my him and one I will treasure forever.
That summer I wrote Carrie Fisher a five page fan letter and sent it to her agent through an address I got from Rona Barrett's "Hollywood" magazine.
A few weeks later, out of the blue I received this huge manila envelope addressed to me on "Planet Earth" with the return address from "L. Organa, Alderaan". I was like: WHAT? Alderaan is gone!
Inside was this photo with the sentiment "For Tanja, May the Force be with you. Love, Carrie Fisher".
I think the coolest and most meaningful part of this gift was the fact that she spelled my name right. Growing up with a weirdly spelled name was the bane of my existence and I was mercilessly teased about it until I grew up and into my name: "Tanja" the diminutive for "Tatiana" which means Queen of the Faeries!
Carrie kept me on her mailing list for subsequent film releases and I was always the first kid on my block to get a signed autograph picture from her with a preview of the latest costume to copy and wear proudly on Halloween as unfortunately, there was no such thing as cosplay before the dark times -- before the empire.
May 4, 2020 - For Star Wars Day, I dressed up as Princess Leia to record music videos on my Violin and Piano! May the Fourth be with You!
This has got to be one of the coolest additions to the extensive line of Star Wars merchandise carried at the Tatooine Traders shop.
Fans can find the Droid Factory station inside the Tatooine Traders store (the store you enter upon leaving the ride) where you can literally build your own droid, complete on a custom card. With 71 different colored parts to choose from, there are thousands of different droids that can be created!

Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith again takes place a decade after the previous movie. The opening Battle of Corusant is definitely the coolest opening to any Star Wars and is in my opinion the best space battle. Anakin and Obi-Wan are sent on a mission to rescue Chancellor Palpatine who is captured by the Separatists. After Anakin kills Dooku because Palpatine tells him to this begins his path to the dark side. After confronting General Grevious who is now the leader of the droid army since Count Dooku died. He escapes Anakin and Obi-Wan on an escape pod. They crash land the ship on Corusant and Anakin finds out that Padame is pregnant with twins. The majority of the middle of the movie is Palpatine slowly conniving and deceiving Anakin by enticing him with powers from the darkside that play off his weaknesses which are his fear of death and losing Padame like he lost his mother. The struggle of darkness and name light is clear as Anakin slowly but surely becomes the chosen one but for the Sith not the Jedi. The most clear scene of Anakin losing faith in the Jedi is when Mace Windu appoints him on the Council but not as a Master. Anakin responds with anger 😠 and clearly shows his disgust of what he believes is disrespect from the Jedi Council. General Kenobi finds General Grevious on the Outer-Rim planet of Utapau. There he duels with Grevious and kills him. Anakin finds out Palpatine is a Sith Lord and reports it to Mace Windu who moments before said, "I sense a plot to destroy the Jedi." After Anakin tells him he tells Anakin to stay put as he feels he is too close top the Chancellor. Mace Windu brings Kit Fisto and two other Jedi Masters to confront Palpatine. When they get there Windu tells Palpatine, "In the name of the Galactic Senate you are under arrest."Palpatine asks if he's threatening him and Mace says, "The Senate will decide your fate." Palatine says, "I am the Senate" Windu replies "Not yet." which is the ultimate demise of the Jedi as Palpatine's response is, "It's treason then." This standoff between Windu and Palpatine seals the Jedi's fate because Windu who all but defeated Palpatine had he not been blindsided by Anakin would've killed the soon to be Emperor and there would be no Original Trilogy. However, because Palpatine or Darth Sidious twisted Skywalker's mind he came to aide and all he had to hear was, "I can save the ones you love." As Sidious is being electrocuted from Windu deflecting his force lightening. Windu goes to "End this once and for all." Anakin out of desperation cuts off Windu's light saber hand and is then thrown out the window from Sidious's force lightening. Moments after Darth Sidious kills Windu and renames Anakin Skywalker to the Sith Lord everyone knows Darth Vader. Sidious then tells all Clones to, "Execute order 66." Darth Vader fulfilling his path top the dark side goes to the Jedi temple killing everyone there with his Clones including the younglings. Vader feared losing Padame and the power of death he was willing to do anything even killing kids who were helpless against him. After eliminating the threat of the Jedi Order Sidious sends Vader to Mustafar to deal with the Separatists since the war was over they had no use for the droid armies anymore. After killing the Separatists Anakin is surprised when Padame comes to see him. Not wanting believe what Obi-Wan had said about Anakin to the dark side she found the hard truth out from Anakin himself. He then sees Obi-Wan and thinking she brought him there begins force choking her. The woman he swore to protect the very reason he joined the dark side he was to the point that he was willing to kill the ones her loved. That was the moment when Anakin Skywalker died and Darth Vader had completely emerged. To the point of fighting his believed master, Anakin. had completely turned to the darkness of the force. After a long and hard fought duel Obi- Wan had the high ground. In his pride Anakin tried to attack but was cut down losing his legs and his other arm. "The Chosen One" he was but not for the light of the force but as the most feared powerful Dark Lord of Sith the 🌌 had ever seen... And the Galactic Empire would rule and reign for many years... Until "The Chosen One" brought the balance that was prophesied and the one Qui-Gon foresaw through "The Chosen One" of the Sith...
As today is May the Fourth one should really watch a Star Wars film today :)

Thanks to a good friend of mine, I was able to get my hands on a limited edition Chrome Gold C-3PO. Only 10,000 of these figures were made, and he was lucky enough to pull one out of a 2007 LEGO Star Wars set.
I decided to compare this figure with the TC-14 Exclusive minifigure from May 4, 2012. I'm quite impressed with the quality of these figures. Unfortunately, the TC-14 lacks chrome hands, and both figures lack chrome plating under the arms, head, and legs. Aside from these minor details, both figures are frankly quite beautiful.
I'm interested to hear which is your favorite!
What makes the alien-performance-dance-art band Big Nazo happier than just about anything else is when they get to shake it out in joy with the audience, and there's a lot of that at the Cantina at the End of the Universe party.
Big Nazo's giant bouncy costumes are startling at first glance and adorable a few steps in. With the musicians doing their relentless happy thing on stage, they get a workout from the crowd at this apparently-annual Gemini & Scorpio party, which celebrates May 4th (Star Wars Day, for those in the proper circles).
Here we've got a set of aliens stepping and jumping and booty-bumping, and in the background are some of the Big Nazo members in their space-traveler costumes. Alt-model Neffer LeMort, in and out of a red-orange jumpsuit from the future and a couple of leather straps, is in the thick of the melee.
But they'll do for now.

Jennifer Harder is conquering the universe, one camera at a time.
In a few minutes she'll huddle with the rest of the Hungry March Band for a prep-and-pep, before they blast out into the party and start the crowd dancing.
It's Saturday night, and we're at the Cantina at the End of the Universe Star Wars Day party - "May the Fourth be With You" - to celebrate all things sci-fi and geeky, or otherwise cheeky and fun, courtesy of the party people at Gemini & Scorpio.
Jennifer is not the droids we're looking for. We don't need to see her identification. She can go about her business. Move along.
Big Nazo is one of those outfits that words fail. They're a band and a performance art project and a mask studio and an alarming group of alien puppeteers, and they're here to take over the world and keep us entertained while they do it. (That's "take over the world" in the War of the Worlds sense, not in the Justin Bieber sense.)
I've been told they're a pile of fun, but I don't really know what to expect. As their set unforlds, they treat us to a wild array of alien-minion outfits and a transforming lead singer who keeps stripping off masks to reveal more masks. There are insectile erotic dancers from unnamed foreign planets, and big-head Goober aliens that might almost be refugees from The Yellow Submarine. There are toadstooly whirly aliens and Cthulhu-tentacle aliens and satellite dogs that have been shot into space. The sax player looks a little like Robocop, with a lot of extra Robocop, and the bass player might be kin to a friendly potato. And more, and more.
As fans will know, of course, it's not really an alien invasion until The Doctor comes by to investigate. Note the sonic screwdriver. Soon enough The Doctor is dancing with the rest of us, and once again the world is secretly saved.
The occasion is Cantina at the End of the Universe, the Star Wars Day party - "May the Fourth be With You" - thrown by Gemini & Scorpio in the their secret loft location on Tatooine. I mean in Gowanus, in Brooklyn. Sorry. I always mistake those two.

This year as last year, Big Nazo invades Brooklyn for the Cantina at the End of the Universe party in celebration of Star Wars Day. The date auspiciously reads out as "May the Fourth (be with you)," which is enough to make fans rabid. As always, the Gemini & Scorpio folks preside, at their Secret Loft in Gowanus.
Big Nazo hails from Rhode Island (locally, that is - beyond that, they are from planes and worlds all over the multiverse), and they play catchy, dancey music in a bewildering array of curious, cheeky, outrageous costumes.
This is the second annual Cantina party, and the partygoers are many and splendoured. Big Nazo's lead singer, here in his early guise as some sort of mutant tuber with a carry-on amplifier, is flanked by the hydranty robot sax player on his left, and by one of several Yip-Yips in attendance and a spiky, blue-haired space girl on his right.
It's not really a party until the Yip-Yips get there.
The sleekest new pop-culture holiday is Star Wars Day - "May the Fourth (be with you)," you see - and my favorite way to celebrate it is with Gemini & Scorpio at their Secret Loft in Gowanus.
The G&S faithful are costumed in sci-fi splendor, as characters from Doctor Who and the many Star Trek ventures and Star Wars (of course) and more other sources than I can recount - there are even a couple of sets of Yip-Yips, from Sesame Street. I note to myself that this is a new standard in parties, for future reference: it's not really a party until the Yip-Yips show up.
This year the Rhode Island players from Big Nazo return for the midnight headline set (for purists, the toll of midnight ticks them over into the actual Star Wars Day). Big Nazo is a giant bubbling pot of music, shake-it-out dancing and creative puppetry: they perform in an amazing set of humanoid and alienative costumes, changing from battling mutant robots to insecty queens, from goofy big-head people types to warty googly-eyed sentient toadstools.
I don't know if this charismatic dog is actually named Laika or not, but that's what clicks in my head. He may not be, because he explains to us - of course he talks, what a question - that he is the first dog who came back from space, though he may not have been the first one sent up there. In any case, he sings a few numbers and then joins the whirly aliens - you can see a slip of one of them behind his shoulder - dancing in the audience. And we dance back, getting sweaty with the visitors.
Because I have to keep learning....
Re-shot - on the 4th May.
Yesterday's version was niggling at me all day.
To the rescue: in the course of some post-party chatting on Facebook, it develops that Seven of Nine, from Star Trek: Voyager, and her pilot Wash, from Firefly and Serenity, neglected to take a picture of themselves in uniform before they headed out to the trans-dimensional shindig at the Cantina at the End of the Universe.
Happily, I was there, and here they are.
I actually didn't realize who Wash was meant to be until the day after the party, when I was going through my unprocessed shots and spotted his dinosaurs. "Aha!" I thought to myself. "The sudden but inevitable betrayal!"
This sort of thing is what should always happen on Star Wars Day - "May the Fourth be With You" - and it's a treat to get a lot (and by no means all, or even most) of the in-jokes at Gemini & Scorpio's most recent party fling.
